The Diary Game: Another Day Harvesting Cassava and Peeling It. ||27-08-2026||

Hello Steemit family, I welcome you all to my another episode of the Diary Game for today with yours truly @inyangibom. Today was another farm day for me. We went back to the cassava farm to harvest, and after bringing everything home, we spent the rest of the day peeling. It was hard work, but I’m always happy when I see the result of my labor.

We started early before the sun got too hot. The cassava was really mature and ready. The first picture shows me pulling out a big bunch of cassava from the ground. The tubers were many and covered in soil. You have to use strength to pull because the roots go deep. In the second picture, my brother was using a stick to loosen the soil around another stand before pulling it out. A cutlass was stuck in the ground beside him. The ground was red and full of grass, but we kept going.

After a few hours, we had a big heap. The third and fourth pictures shows the pile of harvested cassava on the grass. Some were long, some were short, but all of them were good. Seeing that mound made me feel proud. Months of planting and weeding, and now we’re finally harvesting. We loaded everything and took it home.

Getting the cassava home was just half of the work. The next job was peeling. Picture 5 and 6 show me and my auntie sitting in front of the house peeling. There was a big mountain of cassava on the red soil in front of us.

I was wearing a white "FRIENDS" t-shirt and cap, using a knife to remove the back. My auntie was wearing a green and orange dress, peeling with her hands. We sat on small stools and just kept going, talking as we worked.

The peels were piling up fast. We also had two big basins ready to wash the peeled ones. The goal is to process them into garri and fufu later this week. Peeling takes time and patience. Your fingers can even pain you, but we kept encouraging each other. From planting to today’s harvest, it took months. But seeing the tubers makes it worth it. By evening I was tired, my hands were dirty, but my heart was full. We harvested a lot today.

I'm glad to share my diary with you all ❤️❤️❤️
