Art and Writing Contest #207 / "Love and Adversity"
Rubiela, an elderly woman, has made it her purpose to take care of her granddaughter for as long as her strength permits. Her daughter and husband lost their lives in a fatal accident when the little girl was only three months old.
Rubiela has made it her goal NEVER to leave the little girl's plate empty, no matter if she has to work daily in the fields and tending to her animals. Despite her old age, day after day she continues to dedicate those tender moments to feeding her granddaughter; she loves her very much.
Rubiela gathers the fruits and places them on the plate; the little girl looks happy, takes the cherries, and seems to play with them. Rubiela smiles tenderly; her granddaughter is everything to her.
While watching the little girl, Rubiela worries about who will care for her when she is NOT in this world. She decides to talk to a 22-year-old neighbor who visits often. Hearing this, the young woman hugs her and says: 'Rubiela, don't worry about anything fatal; your granddaughter has won my heart and you can count on me. Let's go for a walk instead.' Moved, Rubiela replies: 'Thank you very much, may GOD bless you for your beautiful heart.

¿Me preguntó cuántos abuelos y abuelas que estan en la situación de Rubiela, desearían poder congelar su vejez y retrocederla a sus años de Juventud? Yo diría que todos... El amor es un sentimiento que nos hace querer darle todo y más, y más ese que nace de lo nace de lo mas profundo de nuestro corazón. Da mucha tristeza cuando un niño pierde a sus padres a muy temprana edad.

Exactamente , perder los padres a temprana edad es una experiencia muy triste es algo que marca
Claro que sí, tengo un primo que perdió a su madre (mi tía) en un accidente de tránsito a la edad de seis años (el mismo día de su cumpleaños). Se que mi tía lo amaba, lo cuidaba y daba todo por el y ese evento dejo su vida totalmente marcada al punto que una vez me contó con lágrimas en los ojos que no recordaba la cara de su mamá y eso le parte el alma a cualquiera (recordar no es lo mismo que mirar fotografías, porque ver esas imágenes sin recordar es como ver a un extraño).

Finding the right person means just as you say being able to rest easy, knowing that what you value most is in good hands. It requires a bit of luck; you have to evaluate the person and try to place your trust in them. It is an enormous responsibility to delegate, so it must be left in very capable hands; it’s a situation I wouldn’t want to have to go through.
Many grandparents like Rubiela carry this heavy load every day. Life is not easy for them, they keep going for a child who depends on them for food, love and safety.
No one can do it alone forever. We all need a kind neighbor, a friend or family who will say "I am here, you can count on me" when we are tired and worried about tomorrow.
