Digital Art | Sojsiek: The Dragon Tamer - Original Character Concept 🐲

Good afternoon, my dearest #Steemit readers! Happy Saturday to everyone—I hope you’re having a wonderful weekend. This is your friend Manuel here, and I’m really excited to bring you a new #steemexclusive digital illustration that I finished a couple of days ago to share on my blog. This time, I set out to create an original character: a skilled dragon tamer named Sojsiek. Ever since she was just a baby, she grew up surrounded by dragons, while her grandfather taught her everything he knew about how to tame and coexist with these majestic creatures. In this case, I decided to draw her accompanied by a small, restless dragon—one of those with such a strong temperament that they’re almost impossible to control!

Muy buenas tardes mis queridísimos lectores y lectoras de #Steemit, feliz sábado para todos, espero que estén teniendo un excelente fin de semana. Por aquí los saluda su amigo Manuel, muy emocionado de traerles una nueva ilustración digital #steemexclusive que terminé hace un par de días para compartir en mi blog. En esta ocasión, me propuse inventarme el concepto de un personaje original: una habilidosa domadora de dragones llamada Sojsiek. Desde que era solo una bebé, creció rodeada de dragones, mientras que su abuelo le enseñó todo lo que sabía sobre cómo domar y coexistir con estas majestuosas criaturas. En este caso, se me ocurrió dibujarla acompañada de un pequeño e inquieto dragón, ¡de esos con un temperamento tan fuerte que son casi imposibles de controlar!:

PROCESS / PROCESO

For the concept and character design, I wanted to represent Sojsiek posing with a confident smile while the small black dragon perches comfortably on her shoulder. I focused on her sharp, glowing red eyes, her smooth pinkish hair, and her detailed outfit with patterned star motifs across her top. For the little dragon, I drew its serpentine body curled around her, highlighting its sharp claws and fiery red highlights along its scales.

Para el concepto y diseño del personaje, quise representar a Sojsiek posando con una sonrisa confiada mientras el pequeño dragón negro se acomoda en su hombro. Me enfoqué en sus intensos ojos rojos brillantes, su suave cabello rosado y su vestimenta detallada con patrones de estrellas en su blusa. Para el pequeñín, dibujé su cuerpo serpentino enroscado sobre ella, destacando sus garras afiladas y los detalles rojos brillantes a lo largo de sus escamas.

For the details and rendering, I worked carefully on smoothing the skin tones and facial shading with airbrush blends to give her a warm, lively tone. I rendered the fabric folds of her long sleeves, the dark textures of the dragon's skin, and polished the small metallic band on her arm. I also rendered the fiery glow emitting from the baby dragon's open jaws as it breathes out a burst of pinkish fire and embers.

Para los detalles y el renderizado, trabajé cuidadosamente en suavizar los tonos de piel y el sombreado facial mediante difuminados con aerógrafo para darle un tono cálido y lleno de vida. Rendericé los pliegues de la tela en sus mangas largas, las texturas oscuras de la piel del dragón y pulí la banda metálica en su brazo. También rendericé el brillo ardiente que brota de las fauces abiertas del pequeño dragón mientras expulsa una ráfaga de fuego y chispas rosadas.

For the magical elements, lighting, and environment, I set the scene in a dark, atmospheric chamber illuminated by cool, dramatic rays of light descending from above. These spotlights project subtle purple and blue highlights across her shoulders and hair, creating an intense contrast with the warm glow of her eyes and the vibrant fire produced by her small dragon companion.

Para los elementos mágicos, la iluminación y la ambientación, ubiqué la escena en un entorno oscuro y sombrío iluminado por dramáticos rayos de luz fría que descienden desde la parte superior. Estos focos de luz proyectan sutiles reflejos en tonos violeta y azul sobre sus hombros y cabello, creando un contraste muy marcado con el brillo cálido de sus ojos y el fuego vibrante producido por su pequeño compañero dragón.
