Looking The Other Way
Is this the beginning of the week or, the end of it? It seems that this question is going through his mind the whole day. He cannot escape it. It feels like the question is repeating itself in his mind, as if it was something that deserve some attention. The days are the same for him. Wearing his old dusty jacket that has some holes from the inside. His old fashioned jeans, that is not the current trend. He stopped ahead of this coffee shop again. It was the same one from yesterday and he saw them again. He saw his friend, who is not going out with him anymore. Because, she met a guy who looks from the upper class. He is wearing that same blue suite again. Spending hours talking to each other. He moved on, but, there was a thought from within that would not go away from his mind. Is it possible that those moments of joy that he had, were stolen. Are they awarded to those who had plenty. Or, do those who only know how to be genuine, do share them with others too? He moved far away from the shop and said to himself, maybe the moments of joy are shared equally. But, some would just enjoy them, while others may waste them with looking into all the other directions.

Indeed!.. I had actually something else in mind. I amended the text and in my opinion, this amended version of the story is better than the first draft.
Sometimes we think that we are not able to manage our lives alone and depend on the other to much. That is why we cannot forget the people we once were happy with and share incredible moments. Your character feels deeply lonely, bored and he does not even know which day of the week is. I feel that for him the most important thing is to be recognise for that girl who once loved him but now has decided to share her time with another guy.

Well said! You have captured all the things that he is trying to express. Plus, I agree that we may feel at times that we are dependent on others. But, in reality, life will move on and humans will get used to it despite the good and bad moments one would go through.
Everything that happens to us today is the result of actions and decisions from the past—even those we didn’t make ourselves, but rather those made by our parents, our grandparents, and someone even further back in our family tree... So yes, I think so—they’re distributed equally, or at some point that must have been the case, and some chose the right path while others simply looked the other way... The past is something that cannot be changed.
The past is related to a previous version of us. We should learn from it and live in the moment, rather than spending the whole time thinking about what has happened and what is about to happen.
I like the fact that you mention that, the actions and decisions of the past are not all made by us. I think that at times, people find themselves regretting things that was not entirely their decision.
Thanks for passing by,
I’ve seen children blame their parents for their achievements in life, and I’ve also seen parents blame themselves for their children’s choices and poor decisions.
I believe that to learn from experiences—and, in turn, from decisions that have negative consequences—those experiences don’t necessarily have to happen to us, nor do those decisions have to be our own… It’s precisely in this way that we can also learn from others; that’s what we’re taught in school from our earliest years… So why not apply this to our daily lives as well?
We all have learned different ways to deal with things and life in general. Yet, we share similar experiences. I think that 'blaming' oneself or others' do not help. One must learn from the past, and the rest was seemingly the best decision at the time.
I like this most.
