My last walk was along the beautiful South Downs Way, which stretches from Winchester to Eastbourne. It was a stunning autumn day, with the leaves turning vibrant shades of red and gold, and the air was crisp and refreshing.

As I set off from the charming village of Alfriston, I was immediately struck by the rolling hills and the patchwork fields that characterize this part of Sussex. The scenery was simply breathtaking, with views stretching out over the countryside. I made my way towards the iconic chalk cliffs of the Seven Sisters, which are always a highlight on this route. The contrast of the white cliffs against the deep blue sea was truly picturesque.

Along the path, I met a few fellow walkers, including a friendly couple from London who were also enjoying the stunning views. They shared their experiences of walking in other parts of the UK, and it was lovely to swap stories. I also encountered a local farmer tending to his sheep, who took a moment to chat about the history of the area and the importance of traditional farming methods.

As I continued my walk, I passed by historic sites, including the ancient Long Man of Wilmington, a mysterious chalk figure carved into the hillside, which dates back to at least the 16th century. It’s fascinating to think about the generations that have admired this figure and the stories it holds.

The walk concluded at Eastbourne, where I treated myself to some fish and chips by the pier, a classic British seaside experience. The whole day was a delightful mix of nature, history, and meeting new people, all of which I cherish so much about exploring my country. I can't wait to plan my next adventure!
