I would like to share a review of Kastura Ghat in Cox's Bazar, located on the Bankkhali River. I hope you enjoy reading about this visit. Without further ado, let me get straight to the main part.

Maheshkhali is a large island region and a separate Upazila from Cox's Bazar town. As a result, residents frequently travel to Cox's Bazar town for various needs—whether for education, office work, shopping, or medical consultations. Speedboats are the primary mode of transport for this commute, though traditional wooden boats are also used. Recently, a large launch, essentially a large ferry, has been introduced; this vessel can carry between 200 and 250 passengers in a single trip.

The ghat (jetty) I am reviewing is situated in a highly significant and bustling area. Known as the city's Kastura Ghat, it is accessible via Road No. 6 in Cox's Bazar town. People primarily use this ghat to travel to and from Maheshkhali. Additionally, fishermen set out from here in fishing boats to catch fish in the deep sea. This waterway serves as a route for people visiting the Adinath Temple and Sonadia Island, as well as for those traveling to Kutubdia by launch.

Thus, this waterway holds immense importance, with hundreds of thousands of people passing through it regularly. In the past, travel via this ghat was limited to wooden boats and speedboats. Nowadays, however, large launches operate alongside speedboats and wooden boats. The introduction of large launches has greatly benefited commuters compared to the time when only wooden boats and speedboats were available.

Nevertheless, passengers often face various hassles at this ghat. During the puja festivals at the Adinath Temple, people of both Buddhist and Hindu faiths visit the temple to offer their prayers. Moreover, during the winter season, people visit the Adina Mosque, as well as Moheshkhali and Sonadia islands.

A large number of tourists arrive then, leading to massive crowds and considerable inconvenience for travelers. Accidents are also frequent on this river route during the monsoon season. After years of persistent effort, a ferry service was finally introduced, which has somewhat eased the difficulty of traveling along this route. However, the behavior of the staff here leaves much to be desired.

It is not just at the Kastura Ghat in Cox's Bazar; people face hardships on river routes across every corner of Bangladesh. Operators often charge exorbitant fares whenever they can. There are hardly any real conveniences here for the public, aside from the availability of emergency speedboats for medical needs during the night. Traveling from Moheshkhali to Cox's Bazar becomes particularly difficult after 10 PM.

Similarly, traveling from Cox's Bazar to Moheshkhali is not possible after 10 PM. Speedboat services usually stop around 6 or 7 PM. Between then and 10 PM, one can travel using traditional wooden boats. There is also a 'Sea Truck' service, with the last trip departing at 9 PM; after that, no such service is available. If one needs to travel later, the only option is the wooden boat service at 10 PM.

Despite the inconveniences, there are some advantages, and I actually enjoy traveling along this river route, even with the hardships involved. I love the marine scenery and the experience of traveling by water. The weather is delightful, and there is a unique feeling to a river journey. Yesterday, I traveled by speedboat to our village home on Moheshkhali Island. During the trip, I captured some photos and videos from the Cox's Bazar ghat.
