Honestly, whenever I wake up in the morning and think about heading to the office, my mood instantly takes a nips. However, since life cannot simply stand still, we must find ways to keep our spirits up amidst this daily routine. I believe that traveling isn't just about visiting a specific destination; it is vital for mental well-being. Many might view wandering or traveling as a waste of time and money. To me, however, looking at the world with fresh eyes means rediscovering oneself—shedding inner fatigue and gathering renewed energy.

I am reminded of a favorite quote about travel,

Books teach you about the lives of others, but travel teaches you how to live your own life 😊.

Some real-life experiences from my daily commute on public transport

I feel that even if one doesn't always get the chance to go on a major refreshing trip, the daily commute to work offers its own valuable lessons. Driven by the need to earn a living, we must leave home with a smile, regardless of the hardships we face. Every morning, I board a bus from ECB Chattar to reach the Kurmitola Hospital area; I cross the road there, switch to another bus, and head towards my office in Tejgaon. A major source of our trouble is the lack of a direct bus service from ECB Chattar to Tejgaon.

The morning traffic and the suffocating crowds on local buses are beyond description. To save some time, I sometimes board long-distance buses coming from Tangail once I reach Kurmitola. In my opinion, even though the fare on these buses is slightly higher, they allow me to save at least some precious time.

However, a major source of anxiety amidst these crowds is the threat of pickpockets. Taking advantage of the congestion, unscrupulous individuals try to snatch phones and wallets from ordinary passengers. It terrifies me to recall that I myself have twice narrowly escaped such an incident! By the grace of the Creator and a stroke of luck, I managed to avoid falling victim. The gloom of heading to work after waking up, the hassle of changing buses and paying higher fares, and the constant worry about the safety of my phone—navigating this daily battle to reach my destination is truly exhausting. Yet, I believe there is a unique sense of joy to be found in capturing the people and scenes around me through my camera, even amidst these challenging days.

My daily psychological battle essentially begins the moment I get off at Kurmitola and wait for a bus bound for Tejgaon. In my view, boarding a district bus coming from Tangail—even if it costs a bit more—is a smart move to save some time. As I sit by the window and gaze at the bustling city streets through the glass, securing a seat on the morning bus feels like winning a small daily battle. Balancing the constant need to keep my mobile phone safe with the urgency of reaching the office on time makes the journey quite stressful. Yet, looking at the weary faces of my fellow passengers, I realize that none of us is alone in this city; we are all engaged in the same daily struggle to fulfill our responsibilities toward our families.

When I climb the overpass at Kurmitola to cross the road, I observe the busy streets below, the directional signs, and the daily commotion caused by hawkers and pedestrians on the bridge. It is amidst this very bustle of life that the true pulse of Dhaka city beats. Finally, as I take those last few steps toward my destination in Tejgaon after crossing the overpass, I try to shake off any lingering fatigue by watching the busy pedestrians around me. I feel that this final, short stretch of the journey—undertaken after navigating so much hassle—brings a sense of relief to my mind.

Conclusion

In my view, this daily commute and the struggle of everyday life enrich our storehouse of real-life experiences. Regardless of the hardships of the office commute or the stress of traffic, capturing small moments from the journey and viewing them with a positive outlook brings me daily solace.
