Digital Art | Maihly: The Dark Witch

Good afternoon, my dearest #Steemit readers! Happy Monday to everyone—I hope you’re off to a great start to the week. This is your friend Manuel here, and I’m really excited to share a new digital illustration with you that I finished yesterday exclusively for the #steemexclusive platform. This time, I wanted to revisit the theme of magic and sorcery, which, as many of you already know, is one of my favorite subjects to illustrate. In this case, I came up with a female character—a sort of evil witch whom I decided to name Maihly. She has a deep passion for dark magic and even turns to the most dangerous and forbidden books of sorcery to achieve her maximum power. I hope you like it a lot, and here’s a glimpse into the creative process behind this drawing so you can appreciate it even more!

Muy buenas tardes mis queridísimos lectores y lectoras de #Steemit, feliz lunes para todos, espero que estén teniendo un excelente inicio de semana. Por aquí los saluda su amigo Manuel, muy emocionado de compartirles una nueva ilustración digital que terminé el día de ayer de manera exclusiva para la plataforma #steemexclusive. En esta oportunidad, quise retomar la temática de la magia y la hechicería, que como muchas ya sabrán es de mis favoritas para ilustrar. En este caso lo que se me ocurrió fue inventarme un personaje femenino, una especie de bruja malvada a la cual decidí llamar Maihly, la cual tiene una profunda afición por la magia oscura, llegando a recurrir a los más peligrosos y prohibidos libros de hechicería para lograr alcanzar su máximo poder. ¡Espero que les guste mucho y aquí les dejaré un poco del proceso de creación de este dibujo para que lo aprecien mejor!

PROCESS / PROCESO

For the concept and character design, I chose a centered composition of Maihly holding an ancient spellbook open in her hands as she casts a spell. I drew her with striking blue skin, glowing reddish-orange eyes, dark hair with white highlights, a metallic choker necklace with a central gem, a tall pointed witch hat, and brown layered robes with long sleeves.

Para el concepto y diseño del personaje, elegí una composición centrada de Maihly sosteniendo un antiguo libro de hechizos abierto en sus manos mientras conjura. La dibujé con una llamativa piel azulada, intensos ojos tono naranja rojizo brillante, cabello oscuro con mechones blancos, un gargantilla metálica con una gema central, un sombrero puntiagudo de bruja y túnicas de tonos café con mangas largas.

For the details and rendering, I worked carefully on smoothing her blue skin gradients and shading the folds of her witch hat and sleeves using soft airbrush techniques. I detailed the pages and leather cover of the spellbook, polished the highlights on her face, collarbone, and hands, and added sharp white lightning-like magic strands framing her face to give a sense of mystical energy.

Para los detalles y el renderizado, trabajé cuidadosamente en suavizar los degradados de su piel azul y sombrear los pliegues del sombrero y las mangas mediante la técnica de aerógrafo. Detallé las páginas y la portada de cuero del libro de hechicería, pulí los reflejos en su rostro, clavícula y manos, e incluyo unos trazos de magia blanca brillante a los lados de su rostro para transmitir una atmósfera de energía mística.

For the magical elements, lighting, and environment, I set the scene against a deep purple background with subtle dark silhouettes of a gothic structure or castle behind her. The warm, ominous light emanating from her glowing eyes and magic casts strong highlights on her features, reinforcing her sinister look and dark sorcery theme.

Para los elementos mágicos, la iluminación y la ambientación, ubiqué la escena sobre un fondo de tonos violetas y morados con siluetas oscuras de una estructura gótica o castillo al fondo. La luz cálida y ominosa proveniente de sus ojos brillantes y de su magia proyecta marcados reflejos sobre sus facciones, reforzando su apariencia siniestra y la temática de hechicería oscura.
