New Paper-Paper Paintings and Lake Ontario Podcast

The new paper arrived, which has me worry less, although @jompiy and @wakeupkitty assured me that I was overreacting. Edgeworth knows of a Kandinsky on cardboard, and I’ve seen Degas paintings on cardboard at the Met. So this batch I post today has select paintings on primed paper (11 x 14"), loose canvas, and a couple left over on unprimed paper (18 x 24").
I had a couple sales at a gallery far away, which is rare, and I immediately paid off the credit I used for supplies (paper and oil paints) earlier in the week. I shouldn’t say sales are rare. Actually, I do well enough whenever the work is “out there”, in a gallery so to speak. The problem is the “out there”. People need to see the work “in the flesh” in order to be interested enough to buy it on sight. In a couple weeks, I hope to sell some paintings at a music festival I signed up for. I did well last year at the same festival, while giving away free art and promoting our movie, Saving Stuckism: A to Zed.
Today @jompiy, Emma and I had our Black Ivory podcast. We talked about many things like Andy Warhol and Keith Haring on my jar of peanut butter. You can watch it after looking at my pictures:) But I must warn you that there was a bad connection. I tuned in from the beach at Lake Ontario. The reception was so horrible that Emma was playing drums to it. I walked over to the university library and finished the podcast there.
Tomorrow I’ll be painting on fresh primed paper with some new paints too.

Lo que aprendí de tu relato es que la conexión física con la obra, como la que lograste en el festival, sigue siendo clave; la mala señal desde la playa de Lake Ontario me recordó que la presencia importa más que la tecnología. La vida me enseñó que pagar la deuda de suministros justo después de una venta te da una libertad que impulsa la creatividad. Sin vueltas, sigue llevando tu arte a la calle, allí es donde se vende.
I feel I connect more closely with the younger population. Much of my work is raw with unfiltered titles. I’m painting through all of my emotional states. That is, I wake up and paint no matter what joy or tragedy (so far). I can be in a lovey mood or full of rage—it’s gonna come out through the work. I just can’t help it. I wouldn’t paint or write if I were otherwise:) I think young people are attracted to this. “No lies!” they say. “And be you now!”.
So although money is tight and art doesn’t pay the bills, I have faith in the outcome if I wanted to put in the work of business,. Then all ends would meet satisfactorily. Unfortunately, I’d have to sacrifice some time making art the way I want to make it. Usually take a wide birth around business when tempted to flirt with it:)
I am very fortunate to have a partner to support me financially. But that road is coming to an end in a couple years. Whether I like it or not, I’ll need to take my art to the streets more often. When that time comes, I’ll spread out anywhere to hawk my paintings. It will be the least I can do. For now, however, I paint, paint, paint!

Feeling close to burnout. I might take a day off tomorrow:)
Take a break. A burnout will not arrive overnight nor pass.
Make one painting on several sheets... It might be a great collectors item...

I hope you can combine both.
I have longer breaks too, especially the mornings. How it will work out for the rest of the days I will see (especially if the days are getting shorter).
