🥛 The Glass of Water and Our Worries

During a lecture, a professor stood in front of his students holding a glass of water in his hand.

He asked them, “How heavy do you think this glass is?”

The students gave different answers: perhaps 200 grams, 300 grams, or even more.

The professor smiled and said:

“The exact weight of the glass doesn’t really matter. What matters is: how long will I keep holding it?”

He continued:

“If I hold it for a minute, I probably won’t feel anything. If I hold it for an hour, my arm will start to ache. But if I hold it all day, my arm may become numb and unable to continue.”

Then he placed the glass on the table and said:

“The strange thing is that the weight of the glass never changed, but the longer I held it, the heavier it felt.”

He then looked at his students and said:

“Our worries and problems are the same. The problem is not always how big the worry is, but how long we carry it in our minds.”

You may have a small worry, but you think about it all day. You carry it to work, take it home, and even take it with you to bed.

As the hours pass, the worry becomes heavier—not because it has changed, but because you have not put it down.

So, if you can solve the problem, start solving it. And if you cannot change it right now, don’t carry it around in your mind all day.

Sometimes, we don’t need a new solution. We simply need to put the glass down for a while and rest.

Don’t carry your worries all day… put the glass down.
