One wise saying only
“Whoever fears climbing mountains will spend his entire life living among the pits.”
This famous quote by the poet Abu Al-Qasim Al-Shabi carries a simple meaning, yet it is very deep.
The mountains here are not merely real mountains. They symbolize great goals and difficult ambitions. As for the pits, they represent the easy life a person chooses when they are afraid to try or afraid of failure.
Sometimes, we know exactly what we want, but we step back because the path seems difficult. We are afraid of failing, afraid of what people might say, or we convince ourselves that the timing is not right.
But the problem is that staying where we are does not make life any better.
A person who is afraid of the difficulty of the journey may spend many years wishing to reach their destination, yet they never take the first step.
On the other hand, the person who decides to climb the mountain will certainly get tired. They may stumble more than once, but in the end, they will keep moving forward. And even if they do not reach the summit, they will have learned, gained experience, and become stronger than they were before.
The true message behind this quote is:
Do not let your fear of the difficult path become the reason you remain in a place where you do not want to be.
Every great summit begins with a single step, and every great success was once just a small decision: to try.
Sometimes, the question we should ask ourselves is not:
“What if I fail?”
But rather:
“What will happen if I never try?”
