It was quite shocking for me when I saw my former art teacher selling his paintings near a park. I went up to him. At first, he could not recognize me. Then I introduced myself, but he did not seem impressed. However, I was not going to leave him so easily.

I said, “Dear teacher, it is shocking to me that you have to sell your paintings here. I suppose you do not have a job now.”

He looked at me and nodded.

I told him that I wished to give him something in return for everything he had taught me.

He said, “You can help me by not telling anybody that I was your drawing teacher.”

I knew that I was a bad artist. I could draw pictures of amoebas only and drawing anything else was difficult for me.

I replied, “I would have been a great artist if you had been a good teacher. But I am genuinely concerned about you. I want to help you.”

He said, “You can help me a lot by not coming here again.”

But I could not bear to see him in such a desperate situation. So, I left, but later I returned wearing makeup and dressed as a woman. I asked him to sell me one of his paintings.

He looked at me and said, “You came again! I told you not to come back.”
I was shocked. I asked him how he had recognized me.

He replied, “I am not selling paintings here. I am selling photo frames. I know you are a bad artist and you cannot tell the difference between a painting and a frame.”

That was truly shocking for me.

I told him that someone was calling him. He went to see who it was. While he was away, I stole one of the photo frames. When I got home, I discovered that it really was a photo frame.
