Chicken and duck talk
The live streamer was showcasing her jewellery, showing one bracelet after another and then moved on to necklaces and rings. The jewellery showcased were delicate and beautiful. The only thing was, she spoke in her mother tongue, a language that Susan was not familiar with.
Susan's eyes were glued to the screen on her little phone, trying to figure out what the live streamer was explaining. She knew very little of what was spoken but she knew enough to make up some of the words used by the live streamer. She was tempted to ask the live streamer questions but was quite sure it will be a conversation between a chicken and a duck.
Susan tried anyway, asking in the live chat, typing her question in English, "Do you have pearl rings?". The live streamer saw her message and excitedly asked Susan to hold on. Susan could see the live streamer was trying to translate with their translator software on their phone. Then the live streamer said, yes, they have pearls but started showing bracelets instead.
Susan tried again, "No, no, not bracelet, I want ring". The live streamer tried to translate again and started showing pearl necklaces. Then the live streamer showed necklaces with other stones. When Susan answered that was not what she wanted to see, Susan could see the live streamer was getting flustered, started asking or rather, yelling for help in the live stream if anyone can translate for her but there was no one in the live stream who could help. Susan was helpless, and so was the live streamer.
Susan gave a deep sigh and closed the live stream.

Hey, yuck, what a frustration. That’s what you get when you’re a headless chicken or a duck that’s only interested in pecking , and neither of you has a translation tooll to hand or a mobile phone.
I’m just curious how she watched this livestream, via the internet? Surely there weren’t any emojis with pictures of a ring that she could have shown?
In any case, it must have been an entertaining livestream, where the person presenting the jewellery went from confident to frustrated and then completely lost it. I’m so curious to know how the livestream ended after Susan cut the connection. Did the presenter try to save face?
In a one-to-one conversation, the message would have been clear. Drawing or pointing something out still works.

Yes yes very frustrating. Yah Susan watched via the internet connected via wifi. Used emojis, but sometimes these live streamers, they don't really read the chat properly (since they are trying to make money) and jump to their own conclusion. And not sure what translators they use, which may not be accurate, like in this case. When Susan closed the connection to the livestream, usually, the presenter would call out her name again (the username Susan used in her chat with the presenter during the livestream) and if there is no response, the presenter would move on to entertain another request in the livestream (usually that is how it works with the livestreams here).
This situation happened to me just 2 nights ago hahahaha. Soooo frustratingggg. The presenter was showing some black pearls which I believe was Tahitian pearls from the way she said the words in her language. And I tried asking AI what would the words spoken mean in pearls term. ahahah..But when I tried to communicate back to her, it was quite tough cos I tried to communicate using her language but I don't really know how to type it. But ya, I should have just used the translator, copy and paste butttt in a live stream, things move quite fast and by the time we translate and review and copy and paste into the livestream, the presenter has moved on to show something else.

That can be so frustrating. Sometimes I rather not buy anything from certain seller if there'll be potential complication because of language barrier. Certain things we can buy without needing a follow up or instruction but there are some that we needed the after sales service.
Me too... if communication barrier is too high, it is better not buy for the seller. But sometimes, the item is too pretty or too good a deal, then it becomes an internal debate 😅
And if we can't find something similar elsewhere...

Ah its the bold words in that sentence itself because I mixed the prompts with other words, i.e. Bad translations (first prompt) - lead to - misunderstandings (second prompt) - which may lead to frustrations. Something like that hehe.
