Smack

in CCC • last month

Lying on his crumpled and messy bed, Ray closed his eyes.

Then he sat up suddenly.

Ray glanced at the bag his mother had given him and decided to look for the old coin his father had found by the river.

He walked to his father's home office. Mother kept the room as it was, only wiping it once a week to keep the dust away.

Ray remembered that his father kept the coin in a wooden box.

He looked around the room and walked from one corner to another. Everything there looked and smelled familiar.

He lifted one book after another.

Then he spotted a silverfish crawling across the desk.

Instinctively, Ray grabbed a nearby book to smack it. But he froze almost immediately.

Instead of running away, the silverfish had stopped moving. Ray could have sworn it was staring at him.

Smack them. It's always my first reaction when I find them

Me toooO! But they are really fast sometimes. And when smacked, they look quite smacked with guts and all out.

Yeah, most of the time I would use tissue to smack them so I don't have to see that.

I don't like silverfish. I remember years ago I discovered a breeding place in my room. Yuck! Thankfully, after I cleaned it out they never returned. I would never smack on it/them and certainly not with a book.
