I woke up early in the morning, as I always do. I began my day by offering Fajr prayer because prayer is an obligation for us and the best way to start the day. It brings peace, calmness, and inner satisfaction. After finishing my prayer, I did some exercise to stay fit and active, and then I had breakfast.

I had already taken leave from the office a day earlier because we had made a plan with my friends. One of my friend’s sisters, who is married in a distant district, was returning to her in-laws’ home after spending time with her family. She had requested me to accompany them and drive her there, so I decided to take the day off.

Since my friend didn’t call me in the morning, I thought I would visit my uncle’s newly constructed house. I also had to collect some electrical wires that had been delivered there by a dealer. Being a civil engineer, I have a keen interest in construction work, so I carefully inspected the building from top to bottom, observing the progress and checking how everything was being built. I have been following the construction closely since the beginning, so it was interesting to see how much work had been completed.

After returning home, it was finally time to leave. I got ready, drove to my friend’s house, picked him up, and then we picked up his sister. Our journey officially began. Our destination was nearly 100 kilometers away, so we knew it would be a long drive. We had invited another friend to join us, but unfortunately, he didn’t answer our call, so only the three of us set off.

The journey was long, and we reached our destination at around 2:30 PM. As soon as we arrived, we were welcomed with water and a variety of dry fruits, which is a traditional way of greeting guests in our region. Since we had only eaten breakfast before leaving and hadn’t had anything during the journey, we were extremely hungry by then. The hot weather and the long drive had made us even more exhausted.

Soon after, a special lunch was served. Since the bride was visiting her in-laws after a long time, the family had prepared a grand traditional meal to welcome her. It is a common custom in our culture to celebrate such visits with delicious food. The menu included chicken, kebabs, Rista, mutton, and several other traditional dishes. Everything was prepared especially for the guests, and we truly enjoyed the hospitality.

After lunch, we rested for a while and then walked to a cricket ground located just beside their house. A local cricket match was in progress, and some players from our area were also participating. However, because the ground was large and the players were far away, we couldn’t recognize them. We sat there until around 4 PM, watching the match. Despite the intense heat, the players displayed great energy and determination, entertaining everyone present.

Around 4 PM, we began our return journey towards Srinagar. One of our friends, who works in the telecom sector, was also in Baramulla district that day. He had already asked us to call him when we were returning, so we contacted him as promised. He waited for us in Srinagar with his own car. We all met there and spent some time together. Although we had already eaten a heavy lunch, one of our friends was still hungry and ordered some barbecue. He insisted that we join him, so we also had a few bites.

On our way home, we stopped at another place to enjoy ice cream and fresh juice. The weather had become pleasant, with cool evening winds making the atmosphere even more relaxing. Near our village, another friend owns a large store, so we stopped there for a while, chatted, and enjoyed the peaceful evening before continuing home.

After reaching home, I relaxed for some time. My mother served dinner, but I skipped it because I was still full from everything we had eaten throughout the day. Later, I went to my room, spent some time on my phone, and finally went to sleep, ending another memorable day filled with travel, friendship, and wonderful hospitality.
