The diary game || Better life with steem|| Attending a chess competions
Hi friends,
Last Sunday, an open chess competition at the district level took place in Kannampalayam, Coimbatore, with both my husband and son taking part. We set out early to get ready for the event. The venue was quite close to our home—just seven kilometers away—but perhaps because of this proximity, we delayed our departure. By the time we arrived, it was 10:30 AM, and the matches had already begun; many participants had already played or were in the middle of their games. Although our opponents had waited for us, my husband and son were marked absent because they hadn't arrived on time, causing us to lose points for that round.
However, winning wasn't our primary goal; it was essential to foster my son's interest in chess and provide him with the opportunity to practice. We waited for the next rounds to begin. Once the round started, I located his designated spot and sent him in, while my husband went to find his own place. Shortly after, they both emerged, looking elated. Since my husband’s opponent was just a young boy, he won easily. My son, on the other hand, played against someone older than himself but still managed to win. Both of them were victorious, and it was a truly happy feeling.
They proceeded to the third round of that kind and emerged victorious for the second time. Fortunately, the boy paired with my husband was young, allowing him to win easily; my son also won his match against a girl of the same age. In total, they secured two victories.
however, audiens are not permitted inside during the matches, and participants are banned from bringing items such as phones or watches. As a result, filming taking photos of the beginning or the actual gameplay was unfeasible. Nonetheless, once the matches were over and he exited, he re-entered with his phone to capture the video.
The tournament had a total of seven rounds, but they weren't able to compete in all; they skipped the first round since we got there a bit late. They took part in the last six rounds and triumphed in four matches each. Even though they didn't earn any awards, they did obtain certificates. In the six matches held, both of them had lost one and won four; however, since many other contestants had won more than five matches and secured five points to claim prizes, these two missed out because they had only four points. We felt that if they had arrived on time and participated in the first round, they would have won.
We stayed until the prizes were distributed to everyone, applauding and cheering for the winners while sharing in the joy, before finally returning home. The event was excellent, and we were even provided with meals and snacks on-site. In my opinion, competitions like this should be held everywhere; participating in such sports and contests channels the attention of our children and youth toward a positive path, preventing them from being ruined by the culture of substance abuse.

A wonderful diary post. Despite missing a point in the first round due to arriving late, the father-son team won four of the next six games. The son's win over the older players and the two of them finally getting four points proved that the effort was quite good. The results could have been better if the matches had been played at the beginning, but the opportunity to gain experience throughout the tournament was the real benefit. In my opinion, such open sports tournaments are very important to keep children away from mobile phones or other bad addictions. Participating in such a positive environment and gaining experience plays a big role in the mental development of children, rather than getting prizes in competitions. Thank you for sharing a beautiful experience. 😊
