MY JOURNEY INTO THE FASHION WORLD:MY FIRST ASSIGNMENT( A BUSTIER DRESS )

Earlier this year I started my journey into the fashion world and it has been nothing short of amazing, aside meeting interesting and beautiful souls,I learnt to connect and help others.This journey is one of the best decisions I've ever made in life.

As a novice who had no prior experience or knowledge about fashion designing, I decided to take a bold step into the fashion world . I registered with CJ's world fashion academy owned by Mrs Chidinma and she has been teaching, tutoring and guiding me on every aspect of fashion ranging from drafting simple bodice, to skirt , trouser, shirt and gown.

This month of september, it was time to show what I've learnt so far. I was given an assignment to make a bustier dress without supervision. I took the assignment to heart and was determined to do it well with little or no error.

Firstly, I got my material (I bought two different materials cos I wanted it to look unique) . I took my body measurements and drafted a pattern for the bustier. I placed the drafted pattern on my fabric and carefully traced and cut it out. I gummed a paper stay and a bustier pad to the fabric to make it come out well then I started the joining process at first it was stressful maybe because it was my first time but later it became easy and I was happy with the outcome.

After the joining of the bustier I made adjustments and fitting where necessary.I carefully ironed it and kept it aside.
