The Diary Game: 17th August, 2026. How I Prepared Fresh Tomato Stew from Scratch
Hello Steemians! It’s me again, @macinova. Welcome to my daily diary session. Today I want to share with you how I spent my day in the kitchen preparing fresh Nigerian tomato stew. If you love home cooking like me, come and sit down Let’s cook together.
I woke up around *8:00AM* and thanked God for life. Since I wanted to cook stew, I first checked what I had in the house. Good thing I had already bought fresh tomatoes, pepper, onions, and spices earlier in the week which includes -Fresh tomatoes -Pepper -Onions -Seasoning cubes and salt -Meat and Kpomo Step 1: Blending tomatoes First, I washed all the tomatoes, pepper and 1 onion properly. I cut them into pieces and put them in the blender. I added a small ginger and garlic too for flavor. I blended everything until it was smooth. Then I poured it into a pot and *boiled it for 20 minutes* to dry the water. This is the secret to stew that doesn’t spoil fast. Boil out the water first.
*Step 2: Frying the Stew I put another pot on fire and poured vegetable oil inside. I let the oil heat well, then I sliced 2 onions and fried them until they turned golden. The smell alone entered my nose, Then I poured in the boiled tomato paste. Stir, stir, stir. I allowed it to fry properly on low heat for about 30 minutes. This is where the stew gets its deep red color and sweet taste. I added curry, thyme, 2 seasoning cubes, salt, and bay leaf. Taste and adjust. Omo the flavor was correct!
Step 3: Adding the Protein I had already boiled my meat with onions and seasoning. So I poured the meat and the stock into the stew. I also added the fried fish I kept. I covered it and let everything simmer together for 10 minutes so the stew and meat can marry well. And that’s it! *Fresh tomato stew is ready* What I Ate It With. I made *white rice* to go with it. Hot rice + stew + meat + Kpomo = perfect lunch. I ate, I was satisfied, and I thanked God. Kitchen Clean Up After eating I washed all the pots and plates. Clean kitchen, clean mind. I stored the remaining stew in the fridge so it can last me for 3 days.
