THE PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OPENS THE 1ST SOMALI MARITIME CONFERENCE.

Mogadishu, 04, 2026; The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Mr. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, officially inaugurated the 1st Somali Maritime Conference today. The conference examines the significance of Somalia's seas regarding economic growth, environmental protection, and the preservation of blue resources.

In his address, the President described Somalia's seas as a national asset that could serve as a cornerstone for the country's development. He emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts in protecting the marine environment and sustainably utilizing marine resources for the nation's benefit.

The President also highlighted the government's commitment to prioritizing the blue economy and maritime security, while addressing issues such as illegal activities and their economic impact on the country's progress.

The 1st Somali Maritime Conference was attended by officials from the Federal Government of Somalia and regional states, as well as experts, researchers, representatives from relevant agencies, and other stakeholders. END
