- Coordination between the supplier and the plumber
Proper coordination between the water supply provider (supply department or municipal corporation) and the plumber is essential. Often, water does not flow from the tap due to low pressure in the main supply line or an airlock in the pipeline. In such cases, the plumber checks the water release schedule and pressure set by the supplier. If water is being supplied regularly but is not reaching the household taps, the plumber inspects the main inlet valve and the connection to the overhead tank.
- Repair process carried out by the plumber
Upon arriving at the site, the plumber takes the following steps:
Checking valves and leaks: First, the main water valve is checked to ensure it is open. Next, the pipes are inspected for any leaks or blockages.
Replacing washers and nuts: Often, the rubber washer inside an old tap wears out or gets clogged with debris. The plumber dismantles the tap to clean it or installs a new washer.
Clearing airlocks: Water flow can also be obstructed by air trapped in plastic or iron pipelines (airlock). The plumber releases the trapped air to restore normal water pressure.
- Confirmation of success (Verification)
After completing the repair work, the plumber turns on the main supply and opens the tap to check the water flow and pressure. If the water flows out clearly and at a good speed without interruption, it indicates that the problem has been resolved.
