The Diary Game: How I Spent a Night in the Hospital With My Brother
Hello everyone, greetings to the Steemit community.
Today, I want to share an experience that really shook me and made me realize how unpredictable life can be.
It all started with something my brother did out of compassion.
How It Happened
My brother was going about his normal activities when he came across a lady who was being overwhelmed by floodwater. Seeing that she needed help, he didn't think twice before trying to rescue her.
He wanted to help someone who was in danger.
Unfortunately, while attempting to carry the lady to safety, the situation suddenly became worse. The floodwater was stronger than expected, and my brother ended up being swept away too.
The person he wanted to save almost became the reason he lost his own life.
He sustained serious injuries during the incident. Some of the injuries were deep enough that he had to be taken to the hospital, where the wounds were stitched. He was also given some injections and medications to help with the injuries and pain.
When I Found Out
The part that really broke my heart was that I didn't even know what had happened while I was at work.
I only heard about the incident after I returned from work.
Imagine coming home expecting an ordinary evening, only to hear that your brother had been involved in a serious accident and was already in the hospital.
I was shocked.
I immediately went to the hospital to see him.
Seeing him lying on the hospital bed with his injuries and stitches was painful. As a brother, there are moments when you don't even know what to say. You just become grateful that the person is still alive.
Spending the Night at the Hospital
That night, I stayed with him at the hospital.
It wasn't the kind of night I had planned to have. Instead of being at home resting after work, I found myself sitting beside my brother, watching over him and making sure he was okay.
The hospital environment was quiet at some moments and busy at others. Nurses moved around attending to patients, while some family members were also keeping watch over their loved ones.
As I sat beside my brother, I kept thinking about what could have happened.
He only wanted to help someone.
But in the process, he almost became another victim of the same flood.
Thankfully, he survived.
What I Learned
This experience taught me that good intentions are important, but we also need to be careful when trying to help others.
Floodwater can be extremely dangerous, even when it doesn't look that way. The current can suddenly become powerful enough to sweep away a person, a vehicle, or almost anything in its path.
My brother's bravery and willingness to help someone is something I respect, but I also wish he had been able to protect himself while doing it.
Life is precious.
Sometimes, we don't realize how quickly things can change until something happens to someone close to us.
Tonight, I'm simply grateful that my brother is alive and receiving treatment.
I pray for his quick and complete recovery, and I also pray for everyone affected by flooding and other natural disasters.
Sometimes, the person who goes out to save someone else also needs someone to save them.
Thank you for reading my diary.
