"It's Throwback Time! – Childhood Memories Contest"

My childhood was fun and interesting, and growing up in a village gave me exposure to a lot of childhood games because, in the village, children had the opportunity to play together.

What was your favorite game as a child?

Mancala was my favorite game as a child. It is a family game of two players turn based strategy board games or ground game where players move stones or seeds around rows of pits to capture the most pieces.

As a child who played this game in the village, we enjoyed playing the game on the ground, and we would arrange small stones in separate holes and take turns moving them across the holes. Then, in my village square, we would play the Manchala game in different places in the market Square.

Do you still play that game? Or is it just a memory now?

Yes, I still play the game, and last month I saw people playing the game, so I stood by and observed them because I still have interest in playing the game. However, since I grew up and haven't played the game on the ground, it is the board game with the wooden sticks that I do play.

Also, if I am to say, I would say that the game is just a memory to me now. I no longer find the game as interesting as I was as a kid, and the reason is that I now have better things to do than playing the game.

Share with us a cute or interesting childhood memory. One related to my favorite game.

Once upon a time, as a child, when I returned from school, I ate my lunch and rested. Later during the day, my dad sent me on an errand to buy something from him within my neighborhood. As I went out to buy what my dad sent me, I saw my friend playing the Manchala game.

Instead of me to go to where I was sent to, I stopped at where people are playing the Manchala game. From watching people play the game to also playing the game with them. I began playing the game till the point I forgot that I was sent on an errand, and even the money that was given to me went missing.

My brother and sister started looking for me in the evening because I had stayed too long. They found me at the village market Square and quietly went home and reported to my dad. My dad came to the market Square with a cane and beat the hell out of me in the market Square. My love for the game put me in trouble.
