Imagine if a million people suddenly disappeared, from a city near you…

AssetRealEstate.png

Imagine a large city near you. Imagine that 25%, ¼ of the people there, just disappeared. Went somewhere else / went away.

Think about what happens to real estate. Affordable housing… free housing, for whomever wants to move in.

Now, imagine that the real estate market is facing this condition from several directions all at once.

  1. The boomers leaving their homes, either to elderly care or to mortuary plots.
  2. The "immigrants" will be making a run for the border. They have worn out their welcome. They will be heading south, leaving everything, and everywhere they were leaving, empty.
  3. The Great Migration. People will be leaving cities to live with their selected "families", their tribes.
  4. Natural and unNatural disaster will leave a lot of corpses

Can you imagine a scenario where housing prices do not, just, fall through the floor?

Boomers and their housese

Boomers own 25% of the houses in America.
They could single handedly stop the problem of affordable housing.

Unfortunately, it appears they won't take that route, doing things from an altruistic stance, and fixing what they broke/we're complicit in.

So, the Boomers will sell all their houses as the prices crash to zero. They believed that their expensive house made them rich. They forgot that they need buyers who can afford them. The Boomers have squashed the next generations earning potentials. Well, they let it all happen.

The Boomers will be leaving their houses. It is just a matter of time.

The run for the border

The "immigrants" have worn out their welcome. On top of that, it is getting colder in the north, and those used to the warmer climates near the equator won't be able to take it.

If we just waited, the "immigrants" would move back to the south. But, we won't be waiting. There will be some incidents that spark things off. Horrendous things, that are documented as done by "immigrants" and then there will be a lot of deaths.

However, if we just stopped paying them to stay here, most of them would leave. Turn off the welfare, and they would be gone.

They are using up a lot more housing than you might think. When they are gone, we will find tons of "for rent" signs all around us.

The great migration.

Or maybe i should say the great homesteading movement. There are two things that are happening, pretty much simultaneously. The move to find your people, your "family", your tribe. And the movement to get out of the city and build a homestead .

Fortunately, these movements are synergistic. The more homesteads that are seen working, the more people will want to move out and try it to. The more groups blazing the trail, the more people will be looking to join groups.

And, it doesn't seem like much, but this steady trickle of people leaving the cities, will utterly destroy real estate prices. Mostly because this group is not the poor, it is the group of people that are good at getting things done. It will be a huge brain-drain.

As these people go, the force that holds the cities together will dry up. Those who feel it is right and good to burn down their own homes will be what is left. The destructive/self-destructive people will destroy the real estate market. Both because they can't afford those high prices, but also because they are more inclined to bend the rules. To squat in any empty house they find. The price of a house, to them, is zero.

There is even more downsides for real estate, like:

  • Corporations cutting labor, more work from home, and less need for commercial realestate
  • Diseases, pandemics, plagues will leave lots of bodies, even if the virus doesn't exist.
  • Natural and unNatural disasters will wipe out lots.
  • Food shortages.
  • The medium and small banks collapsing, leaving only a hand full of mortgage providers.

The suburban home price is doomed.

Some plucky young kids will come along and strip them all of everything reusable.
The era of "house prices always go up" has come to an end.

And the suburban cracker-jack house will be seen, from the future, as inadequate for supporting human life. They won't even be wanted, even at free.
