I Made a Website That Is Completely Useless 😂

What if you opened a website and there was absolutely nothing important waiting for you?

No productivity dashboard.

No cryptocurrency chart.

No course trying to teach you something.

No subscription popup telling you that you're missing out.

Just... uselessness.

That is the idea behind GetUseless.

Why would anyone make this?

The internet is obsessed with productivity.

Everywhere you look, there are tools promising to help you work faster, learn faster, organize your life, make more money, or become a better version of yourself.

But sometimes you don't want another productivity tool.

Sometimes you just want to click something stupid.

That's where the idea becomes interesting.

A completely pointless website can actually be entertaining precisely because it doesn't demand anything from you.

So I made a playground for pointless internet experiences

GetUseless is an experimental website built around one extremely serious mission:

Accomplish absolutely nothing.

There are several ridiculous experiences to explore.

🥔 Potato Simulator — because apparently potatoes deserve software too.

🔘 Judgmental Button — press a button and see what happens when the button has opinions.

😶 Do Nothing Challenge — try to accomplish the incredibly difficult task of... doing nothing.

🎲 Random Stupid Website — let randomness decide what pointless thing you do next.

And there's a Daily Challenge for people who apparently need a new way to waste time every day.

The funny thing about useless websites

The more I thought about it, the more I realized that useless websites aren't really useless.

They're entertainment.

A funny website doesn't need to solve a problem to have value.

A silly game doesn't need to improve your career.

A strange browser experiment doesn't need to make you productive.

Sometimes making someone laugh for thirty seconds is enough.

That's one of the things I like about the weird side of the internet.

People build things simply because they can.

Someone creates a website where a button does something ridiculous.

Someone builds a virtual potato.

Someone makes a page that exists for no reason whatsoever.

And then thousands of people discover it and ask:

"Why does this exist?"

That's the magic.

The internet needs more pointless things

I think the web became much more interesting when people stopped asking whether everything needed to be useful.

Not everything has to be optimized.

Not everything has to generate revenue.

Not everything has to become a startup.

Sometimes a project can simply be weird.

That's what I'm trying to capture with GetUseless.

A tiny corner of the internet where the objective isn't productivity.

It's curiosity.

Would you try it?

If you had 5 minutes to waste right now, what would you rather do?

  1. Press a completely pointless button?
  2. Try to survive a "do nothing" challenge?
  3. Let a random website choose your next activity?
  4. Simulate a potato for absolutely no reason?

😂

I'd probably choose the potato.

What would you choose?

Try it here: https://getuseless.name.ng/

And if you discover something even more ridiculous on the internet, drop it in the comments. I'm always looking for the next completely unnecessary thing to add to the list.
