Today was one of those days where I got to do two things I really enjoy: music and food. My day had a bit of everything, but most of my time was spent either in the kitchen or around music. I honestly enjoyed the balance because there is something about creating music and creating food that gives me a different kind of satisfaction.

I started my day with my music. I had a studio session today, and I spent some time working on a cover of someone's song. I had already been looking forward to the session because recording a song is always an interesting experience for me. There is the part where you have the song in your head, and then there is the part where you actually have to bring it to life through your voice. Sometimes it takes a few attempts before you get exactly what you want, but that is also part of what makes the process enjoyable.

I worked on the cover, recorded my parts and spent some time around the studio setup. Being surrounded by the microphone, keyboard, speakers and all the equipment just made me feel like I was exactly where I was supposed to be.

After spending some time with music, I eventually moved on to another activity I enjoy quite a lot: cooking. Today, I decided to make coconut rice. I started by preparing the ingredients and getting the things I needed ready. I wanted the rice to have enough flavour, so I started building the base with my seasonings and other ingredients.

I added the habanero pepper, because honestly, what is good Nigerian food without a little pepper? After that, I added crayfish and monkey spice to the mixture. The aroma coming from the pot at this point was already giving me confidence that this food was going to turn out well. I stirred everything properly and then added the water. Then came the rice. I allowed everything to cook together, giving the rice enough time to absorb all those flavours. I really like watching rice transform while cooking because it starts off looking so ordinary and then, little by little, everything comes together. I also decided to add beef chunks. At this point, the food was beginning to look very serious.

The beef chunks added another layer to the rice, and by the time everything was properly cooked, the kitchen was smelling amazing. Finally, it was time to serve. And there it was, my coconut rice. I served it with chicken and the beef chunks, and honestly, looking at the finished plate made all the work worth it. After spending part of the day working on music and another part cooking, I finally got to sit down and enjoy the result of my efforts. It was a really productive day for me. I got to spend time doing something creative in the studio, and I also got to satisfy my other creative side in the kitchen.

Music and food might look like two completely different things, but for me, they both involve creating something from scratch and hoping that the final result comes out beautifully. Today was definitely one of those days I enjoyed. I produced a cover, had a studio session, cooked coconut rice and, most importantly, had a good day doing things that I genuinely enjoy. I hope more days like this come my way. Thank you for stopping by and sharing my day with me.
