📸 MOMENTS IN FOCUS — PHOTO CONTEST #3
📸 MOMENTS IN FOCUS — PHOTO CONTEST #3
🏆 20 STEEM · ONE PHOTO · ONE WINNER
The Moments in Focus Photo Contest continues — and we are now opening our third edition.
Photography is about seeing something worth capturing and transforming that moment into an image that carries your own perspective.
For this edition, we are once again looking for a photograph that stands out through its quality, creativity, editing and visual impact.
There is no theme. No required subject. No genre. No particular style.
Just photography.
And perhaps this is the edition when your photograph joins us.
What matters is what you see — and how you choose to photograph it.
Landscape, street photography, architecture, nature, portraits, details, black & white, colour...
The choice is entirely yours.
Choose carefully — you can submit only one photograph.
🎨 EDITING IS MANDATORY
As in the previous editions, your photograph must be edited.
Editing may include adjustments such as:
- Exposure and contrast
- Colour correction or colour grading
- Highlights and shadows
- Cropping and composition
- Black & white conversion
- Sharpness and detail
- Selective adjustments
- Other creative photographic processing
The editing should contribute to the final result and demonstrate your own photographic vision.
Apparently unedited photographs may not be considered.
📋 CONTEST RULES
- Publish your entry in the Moments in Focus community.
- Submit only one photograph to the contest.
- The photograph must be your own original work.
- The photograph must be edited.
- AI-generated images are not accepted. The submitted image must originate from a real photograph taken by you.
- Only entries published before the contest deadline will be considered.
- Moments in Focus may not consider entries that do not meet the basic requirements of the contest, particularly photographs that show no visible editing or whose image quality makes photographic evaluation difficult.
- By participating, you confirm that you are the author of the photograph submitted.
⭐ HOW WILL THE WINNER BE CHOSEN?
This is not a popularity contest.
The number of votes or comments received by an entry will not determine the winner.
The photograph will be evaluated considering:
Photographic quality · Composition · Creativity · Editing · Visual impact
There will be one winner only.
Every photograph has a chance to stand out.
🏆 PRIZE — 20 STEEM
The photographer selected as the winner will receive:
20 STEEM
ONE PHOTO. ONE WINNER. 20 STEEM.
📅 DEADLINE
15 OCTOBER 2026
Entries published after the deadline will not be considered.
The winning photograph will be announced in a separate post in the Moments in Focus community.
📸 YOUR PHOTO COULD BE NEXT
You don't need a particular subject.
You don't need to travel somewhere extraordinary.
Sometimes the photograph worth sharing is already waiting in an ordinary place, a familiar landscape, a face, a street, a detail or a moment that caught your attention.
What matters is what you make of it.
Choose one photograph.
Give it your vision.
And put it in focus.
We would love to see more photographers joining us for Contest #3.
Good luck to everyone!

HI Marco, hopefully we will see people who are not only the photography lover but also good observers. This is also will give a chance for the users to show their skills of editing their own photos.
Hi Marco, here is some support so that you can distribute for prize or prizes
Thank you very much for your support @booming04 on the contest post. I really appreciate it!
I’m considering a new format for the next edition and I’d really like to know what you think before moving forward with it.
The idea would be to run the contest for just one week. During that week, people would only submit their entries — there would be no voting yet.
Once the submission period closes, all valid entries would be presented together and the voting period would begin. This way, someone who enters on the first day would have exactly the same voting opportunity as someone who enters on the last day.
The community would then vote during a separate voting period, with each vote contributing to the final result. This should make the contest less dependent on when someone enters and more about the quality of the photograph and the community’s choice.
I’m also considering linking the final prize to the rewards generated by the contest post, after curator rewards, instead of offering a fixed prize. The better the contest performs, the bigger the prize becomes.
The goal is to create something more competitive, fair and sustainable, while also encouraging participants to follow the contest until the end rather than simply dropping a photo and leaving.
Do you think this voting system could work well on Steemit? And, from a curator’s perspective, would you be comfortable supporting a contest structured this way?
I will write you a comment later, just busy with curation now
Hi Marco,
There are some good points:
running the contest 7 days is very good, because once it is over that time users will lose interest, people have interest usually just for the first few days
I think voting and commenting the entries should be done while the entry submitted, that will show the users that their participation is appreciated.
create one tag for the each week contest, so that you also can visit this tag and see the entries for the week. It could be something like: #nature photos01 or #architecture01 and just could be continued with the numbers once you go to the next week
at the end of the week you could choose the best entries. I would personally make three winning places, so that people motivated
you could ask the users to vote it is good to have many active users who visiting your contest post but without that it will be empty.
also try to unpin the old post
I am curator for October, I will not continue after, just will be busy with my work. For October if you would like to run the contest, then you can do that with 7 days duration and at the end will choose 3 winners, depending on the users if they do not power down, not using AI and no plagiarism I would be able to support them.
Hi,
First of all, thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and suggestions. I really appreciate it.
I think you make some very good points, particularly about keeping the contest to seven days and interacting with participants as soon as they submit their entries. You're absolutely right that people need to feel their participation is valued, regardless of whether they eventually win.
I also like the idea of having a specific tag for each edition and selecting three winners instead of just one. It would certainly give more participants a reason to get involved.
My original idea was to create something simple, where photography could bring people together and encourage them to share a little of their own perspective on the world. I'd like to preserve that spirit as the contest develops.
I'm happy to try this new format during October and see how it works. Your offer to support eligible participants is very much appreciated, especially as I understand you'll be stepping away from curation after this month.
I'll also take care of the older pinned posts.
Above all, I'd like this contest to become something people genuinely enjoy participating in, rather than simply another opportunity to collect votes.
Thanks again for your encouragement and willingness to help. It means a lot.
Have a great week!
