Monochrome Monday around the city of New Bedford MA

Today as I tend to do on MOndays I am sharing a few Monochrome images, these all from recent walks around the city of New Bedford.

Starting with the Whalesman Statue, New Bedford was a huge Whaling port back in the day and hence there is a lot related to whaling in its history and monuments and statues.

It was created by artist Bela Lyon Pratt and installed in 1913.

The sculpture represents the city's rich whaling history and was a gift to the city from William W. Crapo. it has an inscription that reads "A dead whale or a stove boat" which is engraved on the statue's base, reflecting a common whaler's mantra
