Neem or generally known as dogonyaro in my location leafs plays an important role in agriculture, particularly in controlling pests and soil management,to the best of my knowledge, here are some of it's uses in controlling pest
• Neem As Natural pesticide:
Neem contains compounds like azadirachtin, which repel or kill pests, reducing the need for chemical pesticides. It's effective against a wide range of pests, including insects, nematodes, and fungal pathogens.
• It's Use As Insect growth regulator:
Neem disrupts the life cycle of insects, preventing them from reproducing and eventually killing them.
• It's Also Use As Soil conditioner: Neem cake (a byproduct of neem seed processing) can improve soil fertility, structure, and water-holding capacity.
• Fungicide and bactericide:
Neem has antifungal and antibacterial properties, helping to control fungal diseases and bacterial infections in crops.
• Neem can control nematode populations, which can harm crops.
To it all,neem is a valuable resource for sustainable agriculture, offering a natural and environmentally friendly alternative to chemical pesticides and fertilizers.
I hereby advice farmers to do afforestation of Neem trees around their farm environment and compound, they should be using this natural pesticide and soil management system in their farms and garden for good yield.
