Achievement 2 — Basic Security on Steem
Hello Steemit Community! 👋
I am happy to continue my Steemit journey with my second achievement, “Basic Security on Steem.”
When I started my journey on Steemit, my main focus was to learn, share useful information and become a positive part of the community. But I soon understood that before becoming an active user, it is equally important to understand how to protect my account.
For me, account security is not just a technical matter. It is a responsibility that every Steemit user should take seriously.
🔐 Understanding Steem Keys
During this achievement, I learned about the different keys available on Steem and their purposes.
Posting Key:
The Posting Key is mainly used for social activities such as posting, commenting, voting and following other users.
Active Key:
The Active Key is used for more sensitive account activities, including transactions and certain account-related operations. Because of this, it should always be kept secure.
Owner Key:
The Owner Key is the most powerful key of the account. It can be used to change other keys and recover control of an account. Therefore, it requires a very high level of protection.
Memo Key:
The Memo Key is used for private or encrypted memos associated with transactions.
🔑 Protecting My Account
One of the most important lessons I have learned is that my account security is my own responsibility.
I understand that my Master Password and private keys are extremely sensitive information. I will never publish them in a post, comment or public place, and I will never share them with anyone unnecessarily.
I will keep my important account credentials in a secure place and maintain a safe backup so that I can protect my account from accidental loss or unauthorised access.
💭 What I Learned
This achievement taught me that being a Steemit user is not only about writing posts and receiving votes.
It is also about understanding the responsibility that comes with controlling our own account.
Knowledge gives us power, but responsibility teaches us how to use that power wisely.
I am glad that I have learned these basic security principles at the beginning of my Steemit journey. I believe that understanding security today can protect us from serious problems in the future.
I would like to continue learning, sharing useful knowledge and helping others whenever I can. My goal is to become a positive and responsible member of the Steemit community.
