What's new?
This is a quick update just to share that I've added Steem notifications to the Feed page on Open for Product.
So now, notifications and activity lists include what you follow on Open for Product, like
- project updates
- task movement
- discussion activity
AND
We now show "External" activity. For now, this includes Steem activity:
- notifications
- blog feed
- user posts
A user can configure their username in their Open for Product profile to connect to their account.
I also added a configuration for the preferred Steem front end. For instance, if you'd like to default your links to another site instead of steemit.com you can set that up in your profile too!
Why "External"?
I intend to continue integrating with other platforms and services, so disambiguating notifications by on-platform, and external is a foundational start to keep notifications organized.
I don't want to overwhelm users with notifications, but I do want to provide access to activity history where it might be helpful.
For instance, I am not including Steem notifications in real-time in the user's notification bell, but they will be available on their Feed tab at any time.
Side note:
I just "fixed" the account card I have on that feed tab so that a user's Steem account banner image will show in the background, but I noticed when I took the screenshot that it's not appearing there anymore. I'll have to go review what my coding agent did mistakenly when working on other issues.
Presumably, that's a skill I could configure in my agentic development system. But until then, I'll have to check changes manually, and correct them as I can. Or I'll tell my agent about the regression, and hope it doesn't eff up anything else when fixing it.
I'm using Antigravity IDE so I can control the agent, but I get to also dig into the code myself as needed.
