The Lumo, introduced by the Chinese company Dobot, is one of the first humanoids developed from the ground up to operate in real-world human environments; its locomotion relies on a system capable of continuously adjusting joint torque to walk across diverse surfaces such as grass, sand, stones, and uneven flooring.

During demonstrations, the robot executed complex movements—including dancing, boxing punches, and even backflips—showcasing the stability achieved by its mechanical platform. However, perhaps its most compelling feature is its intelligence: rather than merely reacting to commands, Dobot integrates computer vision, voice recognition, and body control to interpret its surroundings.

Furthermore, the system can identify facial expressions, adjust its vocal tone during conversations, and gradually learn user habits, delivering increasingly personalized responses through ongoing interaction with people.

Another key advantage is its ability to perform various roles without hardware modifications; the same robot can serve as a home assistant, educational tutor, fitness companion, or guide in museums and shopping malls. This flexibility leverages expertise gained from the company's earlier Adom robot, which was used in advanced trials involving remote operation and precision control.
