The world is changing at a rapid rate though technology. Artificial Intelligence (AI) and blockchain are two technologies that have garnered significant attention in recent years. These technologies have been conceived for other applications, but are now starting to converge. AI can enable computers to learn, comprehend information, make predictions, and carry out tasks. Blockchain, however, has the ability to securely and transparently store and share information. The fusion of AI and blockchain has the potential to develop highly impactful applications that can revolutionize the way people and businesses interact with technology.

Artificial Intelligence is the process of designing computer systems with the ability to accomplish tasks which are usually performed by humans. For instance, AI can analyze vast amounts of data, identify patterns, provide answers, generate content, and predict trends. AI is already integrated into various industries, including banking, education, healthcare, transportation, customer service, and online shopping. AI is more useful now, as computers now have the ability to process a huge amount of data faster.

The blockchain is also a crucial technology. It is a computer-based system to record and store information. Blockchain can store copies of information on several computers in a network, rather than just a single computer in one location. Resetting the information recorded on a blockchain is challenging. That's how blockchain can be used to make records verifiable and trustworthy. The blockchain technology was popularized by cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, but it is now being used beyond just digital currency.

AI and blockchain technology are creating what could be referred to as AI-powered blockchain applications. These are apps that leverage the intelligence and automation of AI as well as blockchain's security and transparency. I think that's a combination that's interesting because I think each technology has something that the other doesn't have. Finance sector is one area where AI-driven blockchain applications can be beneficial. AI systems can process market data, identify abnormal activity, and educate individuals about financial risks. Blockchain records have the potential to shed light on the nature of specific transactions as well. Combined, these would enable some financial systems to be safer and more efficient.

AI and blockchain also have the potential to enhance smart contracts. A smart contract is a computer program that is stored on the blockchain and can execute specific actions when specific conditions are met. In the traditional smart contracts, there are generally rules programmed in the code. Some blockchain applications may be able to be made “smarter” by using AI to analyze data before an action is made. For instance, AI might be able to process data from the business, the market or any other approved data before it can assist a system in determining what action should take place. Despite this, there still needs to be rules and humans in place to make important decisions as AI can make errors.

The other critical aspect is the supply chain. Typically, products go through numerous individuals and firms before they arrive at customers. This can make it challenging to trace the origin of a product or what may have occurred along the way. Various stages of a product's journey can be recorded with blockchain. AI can be used to analyze this information and detect potential delays, anomalies, or shortages. Predicting, for instance, that certain goods might be late, a company could use AI to this effect. Information stored on the blockchain could then enable the company to determine the origin of the issue.

This blend could also be beneficial in the healthcare sector. Medical and hospital organizations generate substantial information. Health data can be analysed with AI to aid in medical research and decision making. Blockchain can be used to establish trusted records of when data is added, accessed or shared. But, health information is quite private and these systems need to be carefully designed. Sensitive medical information should not be simply put publicly on a public blockchain. Further, robust privacy and security protection is still required.

Another growing use is digital identity. There are numerous sites and apps people use today that require their personal information. This raises privacy and identity theft issues. Blockchain based identity systems can provide users with a new method of proving specific information about them. AI could be a useful tool in identifying suspicious activity or attempted fraud in such systems. This pairing could potentially enable people to establish their online identity with fewer disclosures of personal data in the future.

Furthermore, AI blockchain apps can help in the development of decentralized applications, also known as Dapps. These are applications that do not rely solely on a single entity to control blockchain networks. Smarter features could be provided by AI to these applications. For instance, AI could be implemented to analyze data, provide recommendations, automate tasks, or detect fraud in decentralized platforms. Blockchain may document key transactions and laws. This may give rise to novel online services, which merge automated technology with decentralized technology.

While these are the advantages, there are disadvantages too. However, when poorly designed or trained with bad information, AI systems can yield incorrect or biased outcomes. The speed and cost of blockchain systems can vary, and they may be slower or more expensive than other systems. Questions of privacy, legislation, security, energy consumption and responsibility are raised. When an AI system misinforms, and an application on the blockchain automatically takes some action based on the AI system's misinformation, it is hard to reset the action. That's why it is important for the developers to make care in developing these apps.

I also believe that using AI and blockchain together does not necessarily solve all the problems. A regular database or a basic computer program might be more suitable. The use of these technologies should not be used unless it is going to add value. Clear rules may also be needed in order to safeguard users and continue with useful innovation by governments and organizations.
