Diary of Lionel-Richie — Why Does Water Make Everything Feel Different?

There is something about being in water that makes you forget about time. Maybe it is just me, but whenever I get into a pool, the feeling is different from doing almost anything else. You are still doing something physical, but somehow it doesn't always feel like exercise. The water carries part of your body weight, which is one reason water based activities can be easier on the joints and muscles than similar activities on land. I was thinking about this today because I ended up spending part of my day at the pool.

My morning actually started with something completely different. I got up, washed my uncle's car, took my bath, got dressed and prepared to leave. Before heading to the pool, I also had to make a quick stop to pick up an order I had placed. I had ordered some glasses, so I went to collect them before continuing my journey. On getting there, the vendor was already waiting for me, but atleast the main thing is that, i got exactly what I ordered exactly the way i got it. After that it was time, it was pool time. So the thing is, I wasn't going there with any serious plan.

I just wanted to have some fun and enjoy myself especiallysince my exams sn period of stress is over for sometime since we're kinda going on a vacation, and that was exactly what happened. I was happy. There was swimming, moving around, relaxing and generally enjoying the moment. I also had some juice and small chops along the way, because honestly, fun is usually better when there is something to eat.

One thing I noticed again was how easy it is to lose track of time around a pool. You can enter thinking you will only stay for a short while, then before you know it, you have spent hours there. And there is actually a good reason why water activities can feel so different. Water provides support to the body while you move, reducing some of the impact that comes with exercising on land. That is one reason swimming and other water based exercises can be useful for physical activity while being gentler on the joints. For me though, today wasn't about exercise or trying to achieve anything. It was simply about having a good time.

Sometimes after a busy period, you don't need another serious plan. You just need somewhere you can relax, laugh, eat something, drink something cold and allow your mind to breathe a little. Eventually, I headed back home. By the time I got back, I was already tired from the day's activities, so I just rested. Looking back, it was a simple day, but I think those are sometimes the days we enjoy the most. No exam to write. No serious schedule to chase. Just water, food, some fun and a little time to myself.
And honestly, I wouldn't mind having another day like this.
