Any tips for Route 66 with RV?

I'm going to make a awesome trip to the United States coming March 2018.
Will be taking the Route 66 from Chicago to Los Angeles in a big RV.
Does anyone have nice tips for sights / things to do along the way?

Ill be traveling with my 2 year old son. Looking forward to see your replies!
