Steemit Improvement Proposal: Upgrading the On-Site Notification and Vote Tracking Hub
🌐 Introduction
As a software engineer and active content creator on Steemit, I am always exploring ways to optimize user workflows and enhance daily interactions on the platform. Steemit’s decentralized reward structure is genuinely innovative; however, managing and analyzing real-time community engagement—specifically incoming upvotes, curation weight, and payouts—can often feel constrained by the current basic notification interface.
For Steemit Challenge Season 34 - Week 8 (Question 2), I am presenting a comprehensive structural proposal to upgrade the Steemit Notification and Vote Tracking Hub.
🛠️ How the New Feature Would Work
The proposed feature introduces an interactive, high-detail notification module built directly into the steemit.com interface, encompassing three core improvements:
Detailed Vote Metrics ($ Value & Weight %):
- Current State: Standard alerts show a basic message ("User X upvoted your post").
- Enhanced State: The new notification will instantly report the estimated monetary value ($) of the upvote alongside the voter’s voting weight percentage (e.g.,
User X upvoted $0.45 (100% Weight)).
Smart Notification Filtering & Tabs:
- Creators can easily toggle between custom view filters:
All NotificationsUpvotes Only(Sorted by value or time)Comments & RepliesWhale / Curator Alerts
- Creators can easily toggle between custom view filters:
Optional External Webhook / API Extension:
- For mobile-first developers and active traders, users can securely configure lightweight webhook triggers (such as instant Telegram or mobile browser alerts) whenever a major upvote threshold is reached on their posts.
💻 Who Would Build This Feature?
This update can be developed and maintained directly by the Steemit Core Development Team.
- Technical Feasibility: It integrates cleanly into the existing front-end architecture of
steemit.com. - Data Source: It leverages standard Steem blockchain API streaming libraries (such as
steem-jsor updated RPC nodes) to fetch account operations data in real time.
📊 Platform Impact & User Value
- Would many people use it?
- Yes, universally. Every daily active author, curator, and community manager depends on tracking post performance and reward allocation.
- Does it attract new users or improve current retention?
- While its primary impact is supercharging retention and user experience for existing members, providing a transparent, modern, and developer-friendly notification suite significantly improves the professional appeal of Steemit for incoming blockchain enthusiasts.

Thank you @wgonz for the insightful question! Ideally, I envision the Telegram Webhook feature operating as a hybrid model:
Native Integration: A simplified UI toggle inside Steemit settings that lets users connect their Telegram Chat ID in one click.
Open API/Webhook Endpoint: An open external endpoint for mobile developers who want to route those notifications into custom tools or mobile terminal scripts.
Glad you found the Whale/Curator filter and dollar value metrics helpful!
