MY DIARY FOR TODAY, THE 30TH DAY OF OCTOBER, 2026

Introduction

Hello everyone, welcome to my diary for today.

Today was a full day for me. I started early in the morning and ended in the evening with what I had. Let me tell you how my day went.

Morning activities

I woke up by 5 30am. I boiled water using electric kettle, then I had my bath to start the day fresh.

After my bath, I prepared the ground for my morning prayers. I laid my prayer mat on the floor and prayed. Starting my day with prayer gives me peace and strength for the rest of the day.

After that, I went to the kitchen to warm my leftover pap. I put the pot on the gas cooker to warm it, so I could eat it with akara which I was going to buy later.

After warming my pap, I went out to buy akara. When I came back, I removed the akara from the nylon and placed it in the green plate. Then my akara with the warm pap was ready to be eaten.

After some time, I quickly rushed to iron my clothes because there would be a power outage. I did not want the light to go off before I finished ironing, so I hurried to do it while there was still light.

Afternoon Activities

In the afternoon, I did not have many activities. I just went to fetch water from the well. I opened the well, lowered the bucket with the rope, and pulled out the water to fill my buckets for the house.

Evening Activities - White Rice and Okra Soup

This evening was one of those evenings when I had to manage with what I had. There was no money to go to the market to buy meat, fish, or stew ingredients. What I had was rice in the house and okra soup already in the fridge.

But I told myself, I would rather make something out of what I have than go begging for food. Who says creativity does not pay?

God tests us in different ways for a reason beyond our comprehension. We Muslims always say Alhamdulillah, which means thanks be to God, whether good or bad. There is blessing in appreciation.

How I cooked the rice

I measured 4 cups of rice. I washed it properly, parboiled it, drained the water, washed it again, and put it back on the fire to cook properly.

The okra soup

I did not cook fresh soup this evening. The okra soup was already cooked and stored in the fridge. I only brought it out and warmed it.

It was cooked with okra, ewedu leaf, dawadawa, ground pepper, and crayfish only. There was no meat or fish because there was no money to buy them. Even after warming it, it was still fresh and very drawy.

Cooked and served

When the rice was done, I served it with the warmed okra soup.

This is the final food

It was simple, but it filled my stomach. I ate it slowly and thanked God that I had something to eat at all.

After eating, I washed the plates and cleaned the kitchen. I sat down to rest for a while and drank water. I felt calm and satisfied. I did not have everything I wanted, but I had enough for today. That is why i will keep saying Alhamdulillah.

Money was not available this evening, but I still ate. It reminded me that a "difficult day does not mean a bad day".

That was how my evening went. Thank you for reading my diary.
