The Diary Game [12/09/2026] // A Weekend Farm Adventure, Harvest Water Leaf, Bananas and Watching Arsenal Win.

Hi guys, It’s another awesome day to share a little bit of my daily lifestyle with you all. I hope everyone is doing well wherever you are and that your day has been treating you kindly.

This particular weekend, I decided to visit the farm to harvest some water leaf for my eru, which I planned to cook the following day. Eru is one of those traditional Cameroonian meals that can make you forget all your worries once you sit down with a plate of fufu. The thought of preparing a delicious pot of eru was already making me excited.

In the farm on the weekend.

One thing I love about having access to a farm is the opportunity to harvest fresh vegetables for household consumption. There is something satisfying about going to the farm, picking what you need, and bringing it home to prepare a delicious meal for the family.

Apart from the water leaf, I also intended to harvest some bananas. The price of bananas in my neighbourhood has become quite exorbitant, and honestly, buying them these days can make one reconsider whether bananas are ordinary food or imported gold😂.

Some tiny bananas I harvested.

Since we had some bananas growing on the farm, I thought it would be wise to harvest a few for household consumption and save some money.

But then, the Farm Had Other Plans for Me just waiting for my arrival. When I arrived at the farm, I quickly realised that things were not as simple as I had imagined. The place had become seriously bushy and needed extra work before I could comfortably harvest anything.

Looking at the overgrown surroundings, I knew that clearing the bushes would require time, energy, and plenty of sweating under the hot sun. Unfortunately, I had not come prepared for such a serious workout.

My strength was already negotiating with me to return home😂. I stood there looking at the farm and wondering how the bushes had managed to grow so much without me noticing. The truth was that I had no strength to start clearing the place in that heat. I came to harvest food, not to register for a farming competition😌😉.

As if the bushy farm was not enough, I encountered another disappointment. Most of the bananas we had planned to harvest had been stolen. Can you imagine that you plant, nurture, wait patiently for the fruits to mature, and when you finally decide to harvest them, someone else has already done the job for you!

Honestly, it was very painful 😣 to me because the bananas were supposed to help reduce our household expenses, especially considering how expensive they are in the neighbourhood.

Putting the bananas in a bag.

After inspecting what was left, I discovered that only one tiny bunch remained. I had no choice but to harvest that little one. It was not exactly the harvest I had imagined, but at least I was not going home empty-handed.

After the banana disappointment, I focused on the water leaf. Thankfully, I was able to harvest enough water leaf for the eru I planned to cook the next day. That alone brought some happiness because I was already imagining the delicious meal waiting for us.

I gathered the vegetables and headed home. Once I arrived, I prepared the water leaf by cleaning it properly and getting it ready for slicing the following day.

This is one little trick I use to make cooking easier. Preparing some ingredients ahead of time saves me from doing everything at once when I am ready to cook. As a busy mother and career woman, anything that reduces my workload in the kitchen is highly appreciated!

After finishing with the water leaf, I decided to take a shower and relax. Farm visits can be quite exhausting, especially when you have been moving around under the heat. Later in the evening, I settled down to watch the English Premier League game between Arsenal and Sunderland.

Arsenal trashed Sunderland 2:0.

My fellow Gunners, you already know that watching Arsenal is not always a peaceful activity. Sometimes, you need the patience of a saint and the heart of a lion😂 to withstand the pressure.

The match was tough, and I had to sit through the tension, hoping Arsenal would come out victorious. Thankfully, at the end of the game, Arsenal won 2:0. What a way to relief my day. After the disappointment at the farm, this victory was the perfect way to end my day.

I was happy with the result and finally retired for the night. I had done my little farm adventure, prepared my vegetables for the next day, and enjoyed a football victory.

My weekend may not have gone exactly as planned, but it was still productive. I harvested water leaf for our eru, brought home the tiny bunch of bananas that survived, and enjoyed a good football match. That was how I spent my weekend, guys. Until my next diary, enjoy your weekend and stay blessed.

It feels good to see the green and fresh bananas. I also have some banana trees in my village, but because I live far from home, I don't get the opportunity to eat such fresh vegetables or fruits whenever I want. It is really sad that the banana was stolen after taking care of it with so much effort. But in the end, it is good to know that you were able to bring home at least a small banana stick and fresh water leaf for cooking Eru.

I'm actually surprised that Cameroonians eat eru and fun too. Love that.
So glad Arsenal won to balance the day after that stressful farm visit. Enjoy your meal
