The Diary Game [15/08/2026] // A Little Normalcy After the Floods.
Hi guys, accept warm greetings from the motherland of Cameroon, and welcome back to my blog ❤️ where I share my lifestyle content with you all.
It feels like forever since we had a truly normal weekend. For the past few weeks, life around here has been heavily affected by serious flooding. Movement around town has been restricted, and staying indoors has practically become our new routine. With three children at home, you can imagine how challenging that has been😅.
This particular morning, though, the weather looked surprisingly calm, but the skies were quiet, the rain had taken a little break, and for a moment, everything seemed normal. But, of course, with the kind of weather we have been experiencing lately, calm skies are no guarantee that the rain won't return with a vengeance.
Our local market is quite close to the sea, so whenever it rains heavily, the whole place floods. Knowing this, I decided to take advantage of the calm weather and rush to the market to get a few foodstuffs before the situation changed again.

When I got there, the market looked completely different from what I'm used to seeing. It was unusually sparse, almost deserted as many sellers had stayed away, and buyers were equally scarce because of the floods and the difficulty of moving around. The few people who were there seemed to be trying to make quick purchases and leave.

Guys, and the prices? Lord, have mercy😓 on us, everything was ridiculously expensive. With fewer sellers and the challenges caused by the floods, prices had shot up, so I had to be very strategic. I bought only a few essential items and decided not to spend more than necessary.

I left the market much earlier than I had planned and headed straight home. Thankfully, the children were still fast asleep when I arrived. Weekend mornings in this house are a different kind of morning because my three little ones love their sleep😂. So, while they enjoyed their peaceful sleep, I got busy with laundry. I tackled a few loads of clothes before moving on to breakfast. Once the children finally woke up, breakfast was ready, and the house slowly came alive with the usual weekend noise, chatter and activities.
For lunch, I decided to prepare one of my comfort meals, garri and eru. Honestly, some meals just make you feel at home, and eru is definitely one of them.

Thankfully, I was not doing all the work alone. With my husband's assistance, cooking became much easier. We worked together, and before we knew it, lunch was ready and served.

After all the running around, cooking, cleaning and taking care of the kids, I finally got a little time to myself. I concluded the day by curating with the SC06 account before calling it a day. It was not an extravagant weekend, but after weeks of flooding and being stuck indoors, that little taste of normalcy felt like a blessing.
Until my next diary, guys, I wish you all a splendid and productive work week. Stay safe, stay dry, and hopefully, the rains will give us all a much-needed break. ❤️
