Have you ever had a headache so intense that even a little ray of sunlight felt unbearable to you? That experience is known as 'migraine'. Migraine is a neurological condition that can cause intense head pain and other symptoms. Most times it causes visual disturbances such as light flashing, stress, changes in sleep and sometimes even skipped meals.

Migraine isn't just a simple headache. It's hypersensitive, the brain becomes more sensitive to light, sound or even stress. It's a severe throbbing headache that happens often on one side of the head only. I for one have experienced migraine. At first I never really thought there was anything different about the headaches I experienced. The pain was usually on one side of my head, sometimes light also bothered me. When it comes,I just close one part of my eyes to somehow ease the pain. After that,I take paracetamol because I thought it was just an ordinary headache. But the funny thing was that, the 'headache' kept coming back even more intense. That's when I made my research about having constant headaches,I then found out it was migraine.

I started learning and learning about migraine, and that's when I discovered that the symptoms I felt before were associated with migraine. It can come either while working, reading or even eating. Migraine doesn't have one cause, they are complex. Genetics, stress, sleep changes and the rest of them can contribute to migraine attacks. Migraine affects people differently, what triggers mine may not trigger another person. It doesn't have a guaranteed cure but there are certain habits that can reduce how often the attacks happen. I for one, I've started getting enough sleep, eating regularly, managing stress and also drinking lots of water. Identifying what triggers a migraine can also help minimize it.

When you have constant migraine,it's best to see a health professional so as to identify the cause and recommend treatment. Don't keep taking pain relief because you feel it's just an ordinary headache that's why most people seek a medical advice. I've decided to adjust my sleeping schedule, eat regularly, drink lots of water and most importantly avoid too much screen time. Sometimes, we don't realise how important our health is until something begins to affect our everyday lives.
