SteemVM Testnet Update: 10 Validators Online & 17,000+ Blocks Produced
Following our recent testnet reset and validator update initiative, I am happy to report that the Steem Virtual Machine (SVM) testnet is running smoothly and hitting our development milestones.
Before diving into the metrics, I want to provide a crucial reminder for anyone exploring the network:
Important Disclaimer: The Steem Virtual Machine (SVM) is currently strictly in its testnet phase. The STEEM bonded by validators, the voting power, and any tokens generated or transferred on this chain are purely for testing the consensus and EVM execution layers. There is no real-world monetary value attached to this chain or its assets.
Current Testnet Health Metrics
The testnet blockchain is producing blocks consistently, allowing us to thoroughly test the EVM execution layer and network stability. You can verify these live testnet metrics on the SVM Scan Explorer.

What's Next for the SVM Testnet?
With the testnet healthy, 10 nodes online, and the SVM Scan Explorer accurately indexing every block and transaction, the infrastructure is now ripe for developers to break things and find bugs.
We are currently using this environment for:
- Smart Contract Deployment: Developers can deploy and test EVM-compatible dApps without risking real funds.
- Cross-Chain Testing: Testing the IBC (Inter-Blockchain Communication) bridge features in a safe sandbox.
- Further Node Testing: We welcome more node operators to spin up a testnet validator to help us test network load! (Refer to my previous Validator Installation Guide if you want to spin up a test node).
