Lifestyle Diary Game| 17 August 2026 |"Seed sowing operations in our second groundnut field."
Assalamu Alaikum,
We decided to manually pull the plow and sow the peanut seeds ourselves on our second plot, as hired laborers were demanding high wages. My brothers agreed to close their shops for the morning to join me in pulling the plow and sowing the seeds. We headed to the field early in the morning, carrying the peanut seeds and the hand-drawn plow.
We had three hired laborers with us—one man and two women. The man was there to pull the plow, and we could take turns if he got tired. We started in the morning; since the land had already been tilled by a tractor, pulling the plow across it didn't require excessive physical effort.
My father joined us today as well; he was solely responsible for sowing the peanut seeds. Although the morning weather was cloudy, the heat intensified as the day progressed. We took turns pulling the plow, allowing our peanut sowing operation to continue uninterrupted until midday. By noon, we had nearly finished working on the peanut field. Before breaking for a meal, we had leveled the soil by dragging a plank over the field to ensure birds or pigeons wouldn't eat the peanut seeds. When it was time for lunch, we returned home along with the workers.
Although the sky is overcast, there isn't much rain. It has become urgent to irrigate our paddy field and apply the second dose of urea fertilizer. Yesterday, a lineman from the Rural Electrification Board arrived to connect the phase but discovered the transformer was faulty. Today, a team returned to replace that transformer. My younger brother was present there, and after the replacement was completed, we had to pay 1,500 Taka to cover their travel costs and the expenses for transporting the transformer.

In the afternoon, we sowed groundnut seeds on the remaining land and dismissed the female laborers. We spent the rest of the time dragging a leveling harrow over the field to ensure the seeds settled into the soil and retained enough moisture to germinate. Dragging the harrow required a great deal of physical effort; we placed a heavy brick on top of it, and the two of us pulled it across the entire plot. We managed to finish the task by evening. The entire day had been a challenging one. Since we had to pay high wages to laborers on a previous project, we decided to take on the challenge of sowing the groundnut seeds ourselves this time; with the help of just three workers, we successfully completed the entire job—Alhamdulillah. That is all for today; Allah Hafiz.
