Steemit Challenge Season 34/Week 6 : Questions-01

Edited by gemini tools
Have you got a garden?
Yes, I have a garden. It wouldn't be quite right to call it just my garden; it can be called our family garden. This garden has been created in the open space on the roof of our house. Here, the contribution behind building this whole garden mainly goes to two people, where besides me, my father's name must be mentioned.
We started this garden about 8-9 years ago. Since the roof of our house was empty, my father and I used to bring small potted plants and plant them. Then, over time, we cultivated various plants including seasonal vegetable plants here, and we have maintained this trend every year.
Do you spend much time tending the garden? Are you a keen gardener?
Honestly, I spend as much time on garden maintenance as is necessary. Because there are regular garden maintenance and upkeep tasks, but the task that has to be done consistently is watering the plants. To make the task of watering easy, I have set up a pipeline connected to the water tank of my house.
In our garden, when we plant seasonal green plants, at the beginning of the season we first prepare the pots for a day, then mix the necessary ingredients with the soil to prepare the soil, and finally sow the seeds. After a specified time, when the vegetable vines climb up, we arrange supports for the plants.
I have loved gardening since childhood. You will be surprised to hear that a few years ago I brought just a small aloe vera sapling from my neighbor, and through its upkeep, currently I have about 25-30 aloe vera plants which I have separated into several pots.
What do you grow in your garden - flowers, fruit, vegetables?
Our garden has quite a few types of plants, among which vegetables are the most abundant—you could say vegetables fill about 75% of the entire garden. Vegetable plants are changed after a few days according to the season, and we try to grow the vegetables of whatever season is currently ongoing so that the garden does not stay empty.
Currently, among the vegetables, beans and yardlong beans fill the entire garden. These have been cultivated keeping the upcoming winter season in mind. Alongside these, there are also plants for lady's finger, green chillies , and red amaranth which are grown in the empty spaces under the larger plants.
Not only that, our garden also has a few fruit plants, among which are papaya, guava, and pomegranate. Although the pomegranate plant doesn't yield very good fruit, we are still trying to grow it so that it yields good fruit later. At the same time, medicinal plants like aloe vera, turmeric, and coughleaf are also in the garden.
If you have fruit and vegetables, are you trying to grow more this year because of the increasing global threats to food production and food security?
Actually, the production hasn't been increased separately as a response to the growing global threats to food security. Most of the vegetable plants in our garden are seasonal, meaning after a few months when the season passes, the vegetable plants become weeds, and then they are cleaned and other vegetables are grown there.
Targeting the upcoming winter season, the production of the bean plants and yardlong bean plants that you can see in the picture is quite good, Alhamdulillah. Already, flowers have bloomed on some saplings, and they will yield good production which will provide us with vegetables throughout the entire winter season, and since there is an abundance here, we will share with our neighbors this year just like every year.

Actually, we could easily sell a lot of the vegetables from our garden and make a profit, but since this garden is a hobby shared by me and my father, we never sell the produce here. I have a wish to plant some flower saplings in the empty space on the roof. And since I have prior experience in gardening, I hope to be able to carry out this work quite well.
I invite my three friends, @oswaldocuarta , @dove11, @kouba01 to participate in this challenge.

Hello @ripon0630, considering the fact that your father was involved in the creation of the garden I will definitely agree that the garden doesn't solely belong to you, just as you said that you would preferably call it your family garden. And it has also come to my mind that the garden wasn't even created recently, being created either during the year 2017 or 2018. And man that's actually 9 years of keeping these plants is such a healthy and great condition I really commend your efforts to maintaining that plants in good health.
And trust me I totally agree when you said that watering plants is one of the key factors to their survival and maintenance, this is because plants require as much water as they can get to match the proportion of sunlight they received daily. It's nice to know that you also plant vegetables because I really love tomatoes and I also cultivate them in my garden, it's really good to cultivate vegetables as they are going to be most necessary in preparing delicious meals, and it is also nice to cultivate beans as well for protein especially for growth in kids.
