Rail Station Review // "Kamlapur Railway Station"

My Fellow Steemian’s,

Today I’m going to review the biggest railway station in Bangladesh known as Kamlapur Railway Station. I visited that place many times. Last time I visited there at last Monday (05-10-2026) for a family purpose. I hope everybody will follow this review.

Kamlapur Railway Station, officially known as Dhaka Railway Station, is one of the most important railway stations in Bangladesh. It is located in kamlapur, close to Bangladesh bank, & other areas of central Dhaka. Because of it’s location, it is convenient for people coming from different parts of the city. Anyone can reach there by bus, CNG or rickshah.

Old Station (Shohortoli Station)

The station is famous for its curved roof & amaging architecture. It has a larger area with several platforms. There are many platforms, & trains leave from this platforms time to time according to their departure for different parts of the country. The station remains busy most of the time, especially during Religious holidays , govt. holidays & weekends.

Ending Point

There are both online & offline ticket facilities for the passenger. The physical ticket counters can become very crowded during peak travel periods. For regular days, the process is comparatively easier, but during festivals passengers usually need to arrive much earlier.

The cleanliness of the station is reasonable, although it could be improved. The main areas & platforms are cleaned, but heavy crowds often create waste around the platforms, food stalls & waiting areas.

Clean Platform Floor

There are public toilets for passengers, but their condition depends on the time & number of users. Regular maintenance & proper water supply & collective collaboration with passenger is needed to maintain this toilet’s overall environment.

There are several food stalls, tea corners, & small stores inside the station. Passengers can easily manage tea, snacks, bottled water, & other basic food for their temporary need. However, I think food quality varies from store to store & prices are little bit high due to over demanding area .

There are some waiting areas & seating facilities, but for limited number of passenger. There are also separate arrangements for higher class passengers like First class cabin, economic class cabin etc along with some basic needs like water, tea, or small snacks. During busy periods like any kind of vacation, however, available seats could be insufficient compared with the number of passengers.

Entry at The Platform

One of the biggest advantages of Kamlapur Station is it’s connectivity to other district in all over Bangladesh. From here, passengers can travel towards any districts like Mymensingh, Kishoreganj, Chuadanga, Alamdanga, Naryangang & other districts. Other intercity trains operate throughout the day towards Chattogram, Sylhet, Khulna, & northern Bangladesh.

Departure Schedule

Overall, kamlapur Railway Station is not always perfect, but it is an essential part of Dhaka’s transportation system, especially like high populated area like Dhaka city. It’s location, railway connections to other parts of the country & other issues like everything make it extremely valuable place for the country.
