Street food // Jhalmuri Stall
My fellow Steemian’s,
Near my workplace, there is a very small jhalmuri stall where I often stop for a quick snack. The owner Anwar Biswas, runs the stall with very small investment, but somehow he makes a really tasty & spicy jhalmuri.
I watched him make the jhalmuri. First, he took some puffed rice in a bowl and added chopped onion, green chili, cucumber, boiled potato, chanachur and roasted peanuts. Then he added some spices, salt and a little mustard oil. He mixed everything together very quickly with his hands and finally added a little lemon juice. Within a few minutes, the jhalmuri was ready to serve.
He usually opens the stall around 3 PM & stays there until 10.00 PM.Even though the stall is small He regularly sells around 5000-6000 BDT (1000-1200 steem) worth of jhalmuri a day.
What makes his jhalmuri a little different is the variety of ingredients he offers. Along with the usual puffed rice, onion, chili, & other ingredients, he can add chicken liver, chicken leg, chicken heart, spicy potato, & his own customized masala. Customer can choose, what they want, & the price depends on the ingredients.
Price are given bellow:
| Item | Ingredients | Price | steem |
|---|---|---|---|
| Jhalmuri | Potato | 20 BDT | 4 |
| - | Spicy egg | 30 BDT | 6 |
| - | Chicken Leg | 30 BDT | 6 |
| - | Chicken Liver | 40 BDT | 8 |
| - | All Item Mixed | 80 BDT | 16 |
I’ve eaten this jhalmuri many times. It is simple street food, but the spicy taste & his special masala make it quite addictive. Maybe that’s why, despite the tiny stall, he always seems to have customers around him.
I wish him good luck for his business & thanks for reading this.
