Subject: Addressing Low Activity, Voting Fairness, and New User Growth

INTRODUCTION

hello stemians am @johnpology. I want to share my observation and my honest opinion so far I have been observing the community so far, and I can say that,it has been really amazing, but I made some observations towards the continuous improvement of this community. first of all I will be saying these are my opinions and thoughts.

Content

I noticed that Steemit as a community has a lot of subscribers, but less than 10% are active, and less than 5% out of the 10% are consistent. Many new users find it difficult to navigate and discover the community. I would like to propose solutions to 3 major challenges.

Challenge 1: Difficult Onboarding for Newbies
Problem: New members don't understand Steem Power, Voting Power, and how curation works. They feel lost.

Solutions:

  1. Create a pinned "Steemit Starter Guide a simple video + post explaining Steem Power, voting, diary game and other activities.
  2. Assign Welcome Mentors active members who guide 5 newbies each week.
  3. Weekly AMA for newbies to ask questions.

Challenge 2: Voting / Discouragement
Problem: some times Members spend 1-2 hours writing and editing quality posts but get no upvotes. this discourages posting.
Only diary posts get upvoted sometimes, other creative content is ignored.

  1. 70/30 Rule - 60% votes for diary posts, 40% reserved for other quality content (art, photography, tutorials e.t.c).
  2. Feedback not silence - If a post is not upvoted, moderators should leave a short comment why, so the user can improve.

Challenge 3: Low Steem Power & Slow Growth
Problem: New users sees it hard to save up to 10,000 SP, due to the current distribution of steem,it could take them more than a year to get a quality SP,these gives old users more opportunity and advantage in the community.most new users never get verified and stay as Guest in communities.

Solutions:

  1. Power-Up Support Program - Community account delegates small SP to promising and dedicated newbies for 1 month.
  2. Fast-track Verification - Verify active members within 7 days if they complete 5 quality posts.
  3. Power-Up Contest Monthly - Reward top 3 users who power up most with bonus votes.

Opinions

recently,I discovered that Steemit has a lot of activities e.g speem, steem ludo e.t.c, Admins / moderators can hold weekly challenges for rewards, on the games, singing competition e.t.c, this will attract users more, to engage in activities.to keep the community more lively, cause most new users don't know about them.

Expected Result: If we implement these, active users can grow from 5% to 30% within 3 months, and this will improve new users and make our community better.

I am also opened to questions and a position to the steemit community
Thank you for your consideration.
Success

Sincerely,
@johnpology
