THE DIARY GAME: 31:10:2026: My Birthday - Preparing Fried Rice for a Group

Hello everyone! Today was quite an interesting and engaging day for me. Guess what? It's my birthday! And one of the highlights of my birthday celebration was preparing fried rice in a not so large quantity to share with friends. This is because I wanted to make the day memorable, not just for myself, but also for those who would be part of it.

PREPPING THE INGREDIENTS AND BOILING RICE

I started by my making a list of all the items to be purchased in preparing the fried rice; such as rice, pepper, maggi, salt, green peas, green beans, sweet corn, red and green bell pepper, seasonings, cabbage, etc. After which I went to the market and bought the items. Coming back, I sorted them out. I washed and parboiled my rice with the meat stock I had, I added curry and tumeric and put it to boil. While the rice was on fire, I washed and chopped the vegetables with the necessary seasonings ensuring retained freshness. At this point, I apologize for not taking pictures from the beginning.

THE FRYING PROPER

The veggies to be fried include carrots, green peas, sweet corn, green and red pepper, onions, etc. I poured in some groundnut oil and a little butter into a dry, clean pot, let it heat up, then I added the veggies, stirred up and allowed to fry for some minutes, then I added the parboiled and cooked rice. Let's see how the rice turned out.

CONCLUSION

I completed the cooking, and seeing the finished Neal gave me a sense of satisfaction. Beyond the cooking itself, the experience reminded me that birthdays are not only about receiving gifts, making wishes or being celebrated. It's also about giving, sharing and creating memories.
