SLC33-W6: My Community, My Story – Challenges in My Community

Assalamu Alaikum dear friends, how are you? I hope everyone is well by the grace of Allah. I am also well by the grace of Allah. Today I have a post for you. Today I came to participate in a contest organized by @josepha. I will try to fulfill all the requirements of this competition through my post. I hope you will stay with me and enjoy my post. Introduce your community, name, and location

Bangladesh's traffic system is very weak to deal with traffic congestion. I am talking about a place rather than the traffic system in Bangladesh, its name is Dhaka Jahangir Gate. I will discuss with you the traffic jam situation from Dhaka Jahangir Gate to BAF Shaheen College. The amount of traffic jams that people have to endure here on a daily basis is becoming unbearable for people. People are struggling to cope with this dire situation every day. The authorities seem to be constantly at a loss when it comes to resolving such situations. Similar situations have arisen in many other parts of the country that are continuing as a daily routine. Such problems seem to cause suffering to ordinary people every day.

What is the major challenge affecting your community, and how does the problem affect the people in your community?

The biggest problem in our community is the traffic system. Traffic is a problem where people lose the value of time very quickly. Due to the weak traffic system, traffic jams are constantly created, and many valuable works are delayed due to this traffic jam. In fact, dealing with such a traffic jam situation is a miserable thing for all people. Such huge traffic jams are created on various roads of the city. In order to deal with this situation, people fail in many valuable tasks. People fail to reach their destinations on time due to traffic jams, which are caused by traffic congestion on the roads. If we consider all aspects, we can say that traffic jams are a situation that wastes people's valuable time. So I think the biggest obstacle in my community is traffic jams.

Tell us what you think is the cause of the problem that is affecting your community

The biggest reason for the traffic jam situation in our community is the movement of unauthorized vehicles. Basically, illegal vehicles ply on various highways in the city. Some of the notable vehicles include auto rickshaws, ordinary rickshaws, CNG-powered taxis, etc. When such vehicles start plying on the main roads of the city, the traffic jam situation becomes even more congested. These types of illegal vehicles have become very active in creating traffic jams. So I think it will be very difficult to handle such a situation until such illegal vehicles are eliminated from the roads. By addressing traffic jams, roadways will be safer and will greatly help people reach their destinations on time.

Tell us the efforts that have been made to address it, and tell us your solution to the problem.

Despite constant efforts to solve this problem, it is not possible. Because the number of vehicles is higher than the country's highways. And due to the large number of vehicles, vehicles on specific routes have to use different routes. That is why such traffic jams are mainly caused by illegal vehicle movement. I think the traffic police should strengthen security measures and enforce strict rules. Such traffic congestion problems can be solved through a system of fines for drivers and an active role of the traffic police. Although it is a result of long-term suffering, it is somewhat difficult to resolve, but not impossible.

As someone who wants this problem to be solved, tell us how community members, organisations, or government can help

The responsibility of the government and the community to deal with traffic congestion in order to keep roads and streets safe is immense. It is very easy to solve such problems through everyone's awareness. Through the active role of everyone, a strict ban on vehicles traveling on different routes on city roads must be imposed. I believe that it is possible to address such traffic congestion situations through government initiatives and the active role of authorities.
