In all my life, I have never been so busy with events packed together. They were unavailable as they concern close friends and relatives. As a staff of Ogbonnaya Onu Polytechnic, I associate closely with staff from my village due to my colleague that died and was buried who is also from my village. After his burial, other events were fixed that also were planned within that moment.

One such event is the burial of a father to my colleague who is also from my side and we slept together during the first event and she begged me not to miss her father's burial. I wasn't so sure if I will attend but I just gave her a cold acceptance anyways.

Seeing that it coincided with the burial of The brother to the Rector of my school and from the same village with the one of my friend above, I decided to attend both.

Then there is a colleague too who is also from my village who is getting married the same weekend. Since it is the venues are close together, and it's something I can stay over, I decided to attend all 3 events.

The arrangement is that we will move to the village on Friday which is the burial of my friend's father because it came first. Then after that burial, we will stay over night to commiserate with our dear Rector throughout that night and then attend the burial in the morning and perhaps, halfway in the burial of our Rector's brother's burial, we will then leave for the wedding.

That was what happened. Last week Friday, I got ready and left for the first burial. We hired a vehicle that waited for us in the polytechnic where we all joined that morning. We left the school by past 11 am that Friday to Idima Abam which is close to my own community. We arrived when the burial sermon was still ongoing. We joined them during all other things until it was time for interment. After that, we saw my friend whose father was being buried and then gave her the cash gift we had contributed to assist her with the Expenses. She was very pleased to see us and she truly appreciated the gift.

Afterwards, she served us with food, water and drinks and we ate. There were other colleagues who attended the burial but left immediately afterwards. When the burial was over, we walked down the road to see how everywhere was. Along the way, our dear Rector invited us all to come to his house and recline. He warmly welcome us all I to his home, gave us where to pass the night, gave us food.

We rested till late in the evening when he also came out and joined us to have some good times together despite being bereaved. There, he brought out more drinks, fed us with yam pepper soup, gave us suya and then had game us some encouraging words as his children. We were so happy to be there with him. He however expressed his deed sorrow over the demise of his brother and told us that it was this his late brother that trained him in school. That they were very close before his death. It was so touching! The pictures below 👇 shows how we had our evening with our dear Capacity Rector.

Next, we all went to their family compound where the late brother's house lives. There, a lot of people also came around to console the family. They held entertaining burial right there but I didn't stay for long before I felt very weak and sleepy. We retired back to our Rector's house were we passed the night.

In the morning, I did my fitness routine as usual along with a colleague who decided to join me. We spent an hour doing it. Then we went in and swept the compound because it was messed up with the night entertainment.

We all took our shower, ate food and waited for those that went to the mortuary to bring back the corpse to return. When they came back, we all went out to the church where the burial programme was conducted. We spent upto 30 minutes there before our vehicle that will take us to the wedding location came around.

We all boarded and left to the wedding. We met the couple taking pictures with families and friends at the wedding reception ground. We also joined and took pictures with them

The reception began in earnest with the introduction and recognition of some noble men and women and those of the high table including the chairman of the occasion who happens to be the Deputy Rector Admin in my school. Others later came in including our Rector and family after that burial.

Then the both parents of the couple were ushered in one after the other. Then the couple too. Other things followed including the cutting of the cakes. Then entertainment and then exchange of gifts.

We also went out to give the couple our own token wrapped in an envelope. They received it with joy and expressed their joy.

We later left to our respective abodes, very tired and I need to rest. I just freshened up and retired for the day. It was a very busy weekend but I was happy I didn't miss any of it. My sincere condolences to the bereaved and congratulations 🎉🎉🎉 to the newly wedded!

How busy your weekend was indeed, shifting from attending two funeral services to getting married, yet managing to squeeze in your workout session as well, you did a really good job turning up for these three activities. The way you stuck by the side of your colleagues during their difficult times was something really great to do, because we really have to get each other's back whenever they are going through difficult moments. I felt quite touched about the story of your Rector and the bond that he shares with his brother who has since passed away, especially how the latter assisted him at school, he will forever be missed and cherished. Your presence there must have been very significant indeed, and I trust that everyone had a good time at the wedding. It was nice seeing you there celebrating the new couple along with your colleagues. My sincere condolences to the bereaved families, and congratulations to the newly married couples. You are a content genius ma'am.
