Memories Are Human Beings’ Silent Guardians Essay.
Memories are part of people’s conscious and subconscious; they are plastic, they are living. The memory is the only place where people keep all the dead relatives, even those who left long ago — their voices, their laughter, their smell, their tears. Where else can people see the house in which they have lived, albeit briefly, and which they have not yet left? Where else can people find friends, long forgotten, but dear?

I think that people are good at memories. I think it through all the pains and wounds, through all the songs and their seasons, through all the smells that take them back to other times — ten, twenty, thirty years. Science calls this process “triggering,” but it is all human. It is human that it is good to live in human memories. It is human that sometimes memories do not seem to be like something that happened, but like something that was. Love and suffering. I think human memories make people human.

They are not always good; they cannot be controlled. You cannot choose how to remember the things that happened to you — this is where people differ from cameras. They cannot capture and show exactly what they depict. Human memories are not accurate. Two similar people will tell different stories about the same events. For example, one remembers everything clearly, while the other does not remember anything. Each story is unique since it is colored with personal emotions.

However, some memories can be good, beautifully framed like classic paintings in the gallery of the human soul. Some memories, on the contrary, are nipped and buried in deep dungeons, hoping that time will heal the wound. Still, even the sharpest pain shows people some good, necessary teaching.

I believe human memories make people human since they connect generations. Grandchildren get their memories from their grandparents, and parents pass them to their children. People remember their long-dead ancestors and long-gone homes and the joys and sorrows of their childhood. It is the memories that keep the people of the past close to the living in the present and the future.
