True Colours 10: Curation Report - Week 4

“I have an idea that the only thing which makes it possible to regard this world we live in without disgust is the beauty which now and then men create out of the chaos. The pictures they paint, the music they compose, the books they write, and the lives they lead. Of all these the richest in beauty is the beautiful life. That is the perfect work of art."
W. Somerset Maugham
Art is not limited by age. There are children who create wonderful art, and the same is true of the elderly. Art is gender-neutral.
Art can be found everywhere: in paintings, woodcarvings, sculptures, on the blacksmith’s anvil, in etchings, fashion, music, graffiti, murals and the written word. Anyone who puts their heart and soul into their creation and manages to touch the hearts of others has created a piece of art. Comments are no exception. Poetry, touching phrases and stories written in turn can be found in the comment section.
Let's embrace those colouring our lives.
We live in the Chinese year of the Horse
It stands for freedom
Dare to be free & creative!

Is this the power of words, or an artist at work? Whatever it is, these (swallowed) words make me laugh time and time again. And the best bit is that this story continues in the comment section.
"...Text By the time I finally got to my destination, I was thanking God for surviving that moving hellfire.
The heavy woman by the window alighted at the same spot. She mentioned she was also heading toward the venue where the interview was holding. Noticing she was carrying two heavy bags, I offered to help her with one, and she agreed. We chatted casually as we walked down to the venue together.
To my absolute shock, the interview hadn't even started yet. But the real shock came when the woman walked straight past the waiting area and right into the Chairman's office..."

The plan is to paint 20,000 paintings in twenty years. That’s three paintings a day, most of which are done in the morning. Off for the day or ill? Then the backlog has to be cleared. Is it achievable, obsessive, or is it just going with the flow?
"Painting is a daily heart and soul regulator. I’m habituated to it, like shaving, though the latter I have to do so the mouth tape will stick on at night.
A painting of just color and shapes usually is more useful to me than the best rendered cityscape. One is free, loose and innocently stupid, like the human animal, and the other is the pain and effort of copy through bricklaying, and for a result that appears almost super human. I like the instant, messy, un-thought out results. I usually add the title midway through..."

@paholags, in her comment, she establishes an interesting perspective on the concept of human perfection and how, by constantly striving for it, instead of living life to the fullest, we condemn ourselves to daily dissatisfaction because the world isn't perfect. Therefore, neither is humanity. In her words:
I confess that I have a bad habit of being a perfectionist, and although it was chaotic for me at first, when I gave myself the opportunity to work on reducing that flaw, I began to see that imperfection has taught me to view existence with more common sense and even prudence.

Nominated by: solperez
@zory23 has been a consistent user both on the platform and in the #venezolanossteem community, and she recognizes this in this very empathetic comment, regarding Edition 200 of the "Art and Writing" Contest promoted by Sol Pérez. These are his words:
It's an incredible achievement! Heartfelt congratulations for reaching the impressive goal of the two hundredth edition.
I remember moments when the support of the awards given (I think the booming awards) were withdrawn from the community and participation in the contest decreased, but despite all that, it remained and remains active, prevailing over time.
This milestone reflects not only his dedication and passion, but also an unwavering commitment to art and writing.

When we’re tired or our health lets us down, it doesn’t mean that our brains stop working, that our creativity deserts us, or that we can no longer spare the time and attention for one another. We pick up where we left off and reply to those who haven’t forgotten us, sharing our experiences. Simply because we want to, because we can, and because, in that moment, it feels like coming home.
"It's really frustrating if one has to stay in bed and unable to sleep. Will you feel tired during daytime and fall asleep when you are not supposed to?
...
I couldn't write as much. It was so much better before this when I could post of social media as well and wrote more. And suddenly the tiredness just returned. On and off.
Sometimes I spend more than a week just to write a piece. Probably also because I needed to do a lot of research and learning archaic words and such. Takes a lot of time but it's worth it..."

@gems.and.cookies is a regular participant in the PHOTOCHAIN photo challenge organized by the Italian community. He always comments and encourages other users to post photos. This time, he showed us a photo of the Butterfly Garden located in the Zoological and Botanical Garden of Manila. He describes the artwork as follows:
This frame is part of the mosaic of preserved butterfly wings. It is a handmade work of art made with butterfly wings that have fallen off naturally or have been preserved. The house and the steps of the path are made entirely of these butterfly wings.

She returned to Steemit after overcoming some setbacks and immediately started posting comments. Her response to the “POLL: Are communities a thing of the past?” is clear and shows that she has not forgotten the advice to join communities, the tips she was given, or the person who helped her.
"A friend, @irawandedi, guided me on Steemit and suggested I join several communities on the platform, which I did.
After joining a few communities, I posted in several of them and noticed that some truly appreciated my writing, whilst others didn’t respond at all – even though I’d made an effort to write well without plagiarising or using AI.
Even so, in my view, “Yes, it’s beneficial for me” because, most importantly, I receive votes from the communities that appreciate my writing. I can also learn more by reading my friends’ posts in the communities to improve my writing even further. In a community, we can support and encourage one another, so that for those members who feel the community is important, we can benefit one another."

Congratulations to all nominees. We wish more of you could be nominated especially the real artists, those sharing their emotions, invest time in others as well. I know how time consuming it can be to reach out to another.
We truly hope each one of you will keep reaching out and investing in another. Only together we can grow.
Please, also give if you like to receive.
Your investment of today and the past can and will help you in the future.
A great, above all creative, week/end.
Thank you @solperez for posting.
❤️🍀
I can't thank you enough for your willingness to teach and to nurture the artistic spirit that many of us carry within. You truly inspire others with your guidance, and this is a positive thing, because it pulls us out of our mental and creative slumps.
Yay!, thank you so much. Can't deny the how big the smile I had was when I saw that my post was nominated.
Upvoted! Thank you for supporting witness @jswit.
¡Holaaa Sol!🤗
Disfruta tu premio. Te lo tienes muy merecido.
Thank you!
It is well deserved. You are an excellent writer, and a great commenter. No matter the wordcount, long or short, you always show interest, leave a personal note and invest in creative souls.
I send you a warm embrace and know you are not alone. It is a honour to have you here.
❤️🍀🤗
Thank you for your kind words. I still feel inadequate in many aspect of things but at least there's a courage to write and post. It makes a lot of difference having supportive folks like you around me. I may never start posting my writing publicly if not for support like these. Probably still hiding everything I wrote.
Thank you for the nomination!
It's my pleasure, if it comes to me you deserve way more up toes and nominations just like those hard working artists colouring this world. Next to your paintings you also invest in good writings + spread the word.
May free art frees art and true artists.
❤️🍀
Big, blushing, content emoji!
Truly, this is the encouragement so necessary at times. Honored!
Thank you for this wonderful surprise @solperez. It is greatly appreciated. 🤗
It is a wonderful feeling to be nominated, really. I think this is a first time for me here. Grateful for the experience as well. 😊
I am deeply honored that you would consider me as such. But I am in no way a model Steemit user. Far from it. I am only active in one community and that's the PhotoChain. Beyond that I do not interact with anyone else in other communities. So I think, if all Steemit users are like me, there will be less inter community interaction and that would not be good for our blockchain.
Nevertheless, I admit I am very passionate about PhotoChain and I do not want this Challenge to stop because of non participation. That's the reason why I am always supportive of everyone who shows even a remote interest in the Challenge. That's why I always remind my friends about the contest. But it's more for myself, really, than anything else.
For that reason I actually do not expect so much upvotes or curation for the comments I make. And to be nominated or upvoted by Steem Curator is always a very very unexpected but pleasant reward. I just wish I could do more for Steemit but at the moment, this is the best I can do.
Muchas gracias for your words and support. I just hope I don't get used to it 😁
Jeje.
Aamiin...
We understand that women have limited time to post and comment on Steemit, as most are mothers, wives, and also work outside the home. The important thing is that you always interact, even if it's just by reading and leaving comments for other users. Enjoy your award!
Terimakasih atas penghargaan nya.
Excelente. Y no te olvides de descansar.
